Titus Andronicus have announced a followup to 2015’s 29-song rock opera The Most Lamentable Tragedy. It’s called A Productive Cough and it comes out March 2 via Merge (pre-order). The first single is “Number One (In New York),” a 10-minute lyrical ballad that sounds like it’s pretty indicative of this album’s direction. “[Titus Andonicus] records have always had their fair share of ballads, but they were always buried. Now, they are the cornerstones,” main member Patrick Stickles said. Watch the video below (directed by Ray Concepcion).

The album is six tracks long and includes a CD/digital-only bonus cover of Bob Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone” titled “(I’m) Like a Rolling Stone.” Patrick recorded it with frequent Titus contributors Liam Betson, Ian Dykstra, RJ Gordon, Chris Wilson, Alex Molini, and Matt Miller, and a handful of other musicians including horn players, string players, backing vocalists, and and guest lead vocalist Megg Farrell (on “Crass Tattoo”). Full tracklist below.

Titus are supporting the album on their first-ever “acoustic” tour, which will have Patrick and pianist Alex Molini playing together. Direct support on all dates comes from Rick Maguire of Pile.

The tour begins in Kingston, NY and wraps up in Brooklyn on April 15 at Murmrr Theatre. Tickets go on sale Friday (1/5) at noon. All dates are listed below.
