tix on sale: Public Image Ltd, Byrds, Sheer Mag, Kali Uchis, Alan Braufman, more
BUST Magazine is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a party at House of Yes on August 28 featuring comedy from Aparna Nancherla and Patti Harrison, a DJ set from Erykah Badu (under her DJ Low Down Loretta Brown guise), an appearance from actress/filmmaker Amber Tamblyn, special guests, and more. Actress/comedian Jenny Slate is your host. Tickets are on sale.
Downtown New York jazz vet Alan Braufman recently reissued his 1975 free jazz classic Valley of Search, and he’s performing it at Brooklyn’s National Sawdust on August 3 with Cooper-Moore (who played on the original 1975 album) and James Brandon Lewis. Opening the show is rising NYC avant-jazz group Standing on the Corner, which makes for a very cool multi-generational bill. Tickets and more info here. Read more about the reissue and stream some tracks from it here.
