Tom Delonge’s Angels & Airwaves announce first tour in 7 years

blink-182 have been operating without Tom Delonge since 2015, and while Tom has been spending a lot of his time doing stuff related to UFOs, he’s now getting ready to tour again too. He’s taking his U2-ish, post-blink-182 band Angels & Airwaves on tour for the first time in seven years, and they also just released their first song in three years, “Rebel Girl” (not a Bikini Kill cover). “‘Rebel Girl’ is a space-age love song that combines my enduring obsession for New Wave, pop punk and anthemic rock and roll music. As some of you might’ve heard, I recently took a brief minute to start up an aerospace company, so you never know – I may play this song from a satellite deep in space, beamed toward everyone’s house viciously on repeat,” Tom says.

The new song is, uh, not great, but this tour will be your first chance in a while to see Tom live and he does sometimes play blink-182 and Box Car Racer stuff at Angels & Airwaves shows. (Plus their first album is pretty good, don’t @ me.)

The band — which is currently rounded out by longtime guitarist David Kennedy and drummer Ilan Rubin (also currently of Nine Inch Nails), who joined in 2011 — begins their tour in Phoenix on September 4, and also will hit Austin, Atlanta, NYC, Chicago, LA, and more.

The NYC show happens September 17 at Playstation Theater. Tickets go on sale Friday (5/3) at noon with presales beforehand.
