Tom Ze playing NYC this week; Marcos Valle playing Birdland residency

Tropicalia great Tom Zé just played Marfa Myths this past weekend, and before heading back to Brazil, Tom is in NYC to play Red Hook’s Pioneer Works on Tuesday (4/17). Tickets are available.

Meanwhile, fellow Brazilian tropicalia legend Marcos Valle, who had a bit of a resurgence in 2014 when his 1983 single “Estrellar” was used in a Southern Comfort commercial that seemed to air nonstop during the World Cup, will play a five-night residency at NYC’s Birdland in May, playing May 29 – June 2. There are early and late shows each night, all with Paula and Jaques Morelenbaum, and tickets are on sale now.
