Tool album updates from Maynard James Keenan & Adam Jones

Tool have been teasing a followup to 2006’s 10,000 Days for a long time; while there have been encouraging signs lately, like drummer Danny Carey saying a new album will “definitely” be out this year and a new music video reportedly being in the works, mostly we’ve been skeptical. Two members of Tool recently gave updates on social media that lead us to think the band’s long-awaited album could really be dropping soon, though. Maynard James Keenan’s most recent update on Twitter says, “Words & Melodies 100% DONE on all but 1.” He continues, “Someday we’ll track them. Long way from the finish line, but at least we’re closer.”

Guitarist Adam Jones also offered an update on the album on Instagram. Reposting a picture from Sebastian Bach, who described “getting my face melted by 3/4 of TOOL at the TOOL headquarters / rehearsal Studio,” Adam writes, “Huge fun & honor performing all the new tunes for Guinea pigs Sebastian & #KingBuzz b4 the recording starts in April. Still instrumentals with Mjk in town working on killer lyrics.”

Stay tuned for more info on Tool’s new album.

Meanwhile, A Perfect Circle‘s first album in 14 years, Eat the Elephant, comes out April 20.
