Tool release portion of new song "Descending"

Tool members Danny Carey, Justin Chancellor and Adam Jones (everyone except Maynard) recently announced that they’d be doing “clinics” in various cities this year, which will include “an intimate discussion of the inner workings of the band’s music,” with an open Q&A session, a meet & mingle, and a “traveling exhibit of unique memorabilia.” Ahead of those clinics, the band released a teaser video that features three and a half minutes of instrumental music (so, again, no Maynard), which feels closer to finally getting new Tool music than the band’s many vague updates have felt. It sounds promising too. Listen below.

UPDATE: As others have pointed out, the song is a portion of the new Tool song “Descending,” which they’ve been playing live for a few years now.

Meanwhile, Maynard’s band A Perfect Circle just released their first album in 14 years and announced a tour.
