Tool's new album coming "between Mid May and Mid July," Maynard says

It’s been over ten years since Tool released 10,000 Days in 2006, and we’ve grown skeptical of the various teases of a follow-up since (like when drummer Danny Carey said a new album would “definitely” be out in 2018), but here’s a promising update from Maynard James Keenan. “Midway through mixing,” he writes on Twitter. “Most likely be a few recalls. Then some arguing. Then Mastering, Artwork, Video, Special Packaging, etc. Best Ballpark Guess- Release date somewhere between Mid May and Mid July. More focused updates to follow as we progress.” We’ll believe it when we see it, but get cautiously optimistic at your own risk.

This comes after Maynard shot down recent rumors of an April release date for a new Tool album. The rumors were inspired by Danny Carey telling a fan at Anaheim, CA convention NAMM that it was due out mid-April: “that’s the plan, anyway,” he said.
