Toronto band Grounders ready debut album (stream a track), playing NYC this week with Twist on way to SXSW

grounders

Toronto quartet Grounders sound hazy but are anchored by strong pop hooks. The band’s self-titled debut album will be out May 12 via Nevado Music and was made with studio help from members of Broken Social Scene and Absolutely Free. You can stream “Secret Friend,” which opens the album, below.

Like a lot of musicians, Grounders are on their way to SXSW and will stop in NYC to play a show on Thursday (3/4) at Cake Shop with fellow Torontonians Twist and Sun Cut Flat. All dates, including the Savannah Stopover, are listed below.

The Cake Shop show is a newly-added date for Twist (which features Brian of Holy Fuck), who played Baby’s All Right on Sunday night. Anybody go to that? Twist also play Shea Stadium on March 6.
