tours announced: Black Star, King Dude, Bad Religion, Diane Coffee, Sacred Reich, more

The following new tours were announced. Check the Tour Dates category every day for more.

BLACK STAR

Black Star (aka Talib Kweli and Mos Def), who are apparently working on a long-awaited follow-up to their classic 1998 debut, continue to add 2019 shows, and their schedule now includes the Boston Calling and Soundset festivals. Meanwhile, Talib has some dates of his own much sooner than that, including two NYC dates at Brooklyn Bowl this week: first a DJ set on February 28, and then an appearance at the Brownsville Now! benefit show on March 1. BAD RELIGION

Punk veterans Bad Religion just announced their 17th album, and while they haven’t announced a proper tour yet, they continue to add festival appearances. They were recently added to the stacked Psycho Las Vegas lineup, and they’re playing the just-announced Sea.Hear.Now fest in Asbury Park, which is their first announced East Coast date of 2019. Hopefully more dates TBA – stay tuned.

HISS GOLDEN MESSENGER

M.C. Taylor will be doing some solo Hiss Golden Messenger dates starting this Friday (3/1) in Woodstock, and then working his way down the East Coast, wrapping up in Norfolk, VA on March 9. Hiss Golden Messenger also play full band sets at festivals Oakfest, Camp Greensky, the Merge Records 30th Anniversary, as well as two shows in August opening for Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats at Red Rocks in Colorado. BEAST COAST

Flatbush Zombies, Joey Bada$$, The Underachievers, and other Pro Era members (Nyck Caution, Kirk Knight, Powers Pleasant) are playing shows together this year under the name Beast Coast. So far they’ve got three announced, including a Red Rocks show, NYC’s Governors Ball, and the just-announced Soundset festival. No word yet if they’re planning more — or planning music together — but stay tuned.

HIS HAMMER’S HOUSE PARTY TOUR (MC HAMMER, EV VOGUE, SIR MIX-A-LOT, SISQO & MORE)

MC Hammer is playing host to a ’90s nostalgia tour this summer he’s calling His Hammer’s House Party Tour, with a rotating bill that will include En Vogue, Sir Mix-a-Lot, Kid ‘n Play, Sisqo, Doug E Fresh, Tone Loc, Montell Jordan, Tag Team, Rob Base, Young MC, DJ Kool, Biz Markie, Coolio, The Funky Bunch (but no Marky Mark) and 2 Live Crew. Dates include stops in Tallahassee, the Bay Area, Las Vegas, the Dallas area, and more. Head here for all dates and individual show lineups (which are subject to change).

EMILY REO & FOXES IN FICTION

Emily Reo is releasing a new album, and she’s expanded her tour with Foxes in Fiction that already included a Brooklyn show at Baby’s All Right on 4/26. The tour starts in Los Angeles on 4/13 and hits San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, DC, Philly, Cleveland, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal and Boston. Before the tour starts, Emily also plays Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on March 7. Head here for all dates.

KING DUDE

Gothy folk/country/rock artist King Dude, who released Music to Make War To last August, has just announced a spring tour that will be his first since dropping off the Taake tour last year. Things begin in Portland, OR on April 22 and includes stops in Oakland, L.A., Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Nashville, Asheville, Baltimore, Philly, Brooklyn (5/7 @ Saint Vitus), Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Denver, Seattle and more. Most shows are with Kate Clover and Maggot Heart and all dates are listed here.

REPTALIENS

Portland, OR-based Reptaliens were previously announced as openers for the upcoming Turnover/Turnstile co-headining tour (with two NYC-area stops in May), and today they’ve revealed headlining dates of their own, supporting their second album VALIS out April 26 via Captured Tracks. These dates take place next month, and includes shows in Los Angeles, Denver, Salt Lake City, San Diego, and more, in addition to appearances at Austin’s SXSW and Boise’s Treefort Music Festival. SACRED REICH

Sacred Reich is touring with Iron Reagan and Leeway, who are both playing Brooklyn’s Black N Blue Bowl in May, and now Sacred Reich have added their own Brooklyn show happening around that same time, at Saint Vitus on 5/8 with support from High Spirits and Savage Master. They’ve also got another date at LA’s Regent Theater on 5/31 (with Vio-lence, Excel, and Sworn Enemy), and a pair of European tour legs later this year, including tons of shows with openers Night Demon. GOGOL BORDELLO

Gypsy punks Gogol Bordello are no stranger to killer live shows, and you can expect tons of those on their 20th anniversary tour, which kicks off in mid-March. This includes a Long Island show (which we’re giving away tickets to). Meanwhile, frontman Eugene Hutz is scheduled to play the NYC tribute show to Suicide’s Alan Vega at Bowery Electric tonight (2/27).

DIANE COFFEE (DATES W/ JACKIE MEDOZA & ACTIVE BIRD COMMUNITY)

Diane Coffee, the solo project of former Foxygen drummer Shaun Fleming, will release new album, Internet Arms, on April 19 via Polyvinyl. You can check out the very ’80s-pop sounding first single, “Not Ready to Go,” below. Diane Coffee will be on tour starting in April, including an East Coast run with Jackie Mendoza and Active Bird Community that stops in Philly, NYC (Bowery Ballroom on 5/14), Boston, Montreal, Toronto, and Detroit. There are tons more North American dates in addition to that run, hitting both coasts. Head here for all dates.
