THE THE

It’s been 16 years since Matt Johnson has played a show as The The, and it’s been 18 years since The The have toured the U.S. That will change in September as The The’s “Comeback Special” tour crosses the Atlantic for select dates. including two NYC shows. Matt hasn’t announced who will be in his band for this tour, but we’re really hoping it will include Johnny Marr

QUICKSAND / GLASSJAW

Classic New York post-hardcore bands Glassjaw and Quicksand both released great, long-awaited new albums last year, and now they’re touring together.

MC50 (MC5 50TH ANNIVERSARY)

Wayne Kramer is celebrating 50 years of his protopunk group MC5 with a tour where he’s assembled a supergroup that includes Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), drummer Brendan Canty (Fugazi), bassist Dug Pinnick (King’s X), and frontman Marcus Durant (Zen Guerrilla). Dates include NYC’s Irving Plaza and two shows in Detroit to cap off the tour.

AMEN DUNES

Fresh off releasing his great new album Freedom, Amen Dunes expanded his tour, including his largest hometown (NYC) show yet.

CHELSEA WOLFE

Chelsea Wolfe is currently on a North American tour with Ministry in continued support of last year’s great, industrial-leaning Hiss Spun, and she has now added a headlining European tour for after that. Dates and tickets HERE.

JOHN MAUS

John Maus will release his second album in less than a year in May, right around the time he plays NYC’s Red Bull Music Festival (a special show in The Wonder Wheel Park that includes music written for some of the rides. He’s got other upcoming dates, too, including Coachella and a European tour.

Veteran songwriter and Lift to Experience frontman Josh T Pearson is about to release his first solo album in seven years (and second overall), The Straight Hits!, and he announced dates with Heartless Bastards’ Erika Wennerstrom, who just released first solo album. They’re hitting Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and more. All dates HERE.

BRANDI CARLILE

Americana and folk vet Brandi Carlile recently released By The Way, I Forgive You, her sixth album (listen to it here) which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums Chart. She’ll kick off a spring tour this week with three nights at NYC’s Beacon Theatre and will be on the road through the summer, including a few summer shows with Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit. SMINO

Talented rapper/singer Smino is hitting the road this year, and expanded his tour to include shows at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg (5/30) and LA’s El Rey Theatre (6/6). All dates and tickets HERE. Watch Smino’s new “Wild Irish Roses” video:

WILLIE NELSON’S OUTLAW MUSIC FESTIVAL TOUR

Willie Nelson added a second leg to his Outlaw Music Fest tour, including shows with Van Morrison, Neil Young, Sturgill Simpson, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff, and more.

After Inquisition were removed from Satyricon’s tour amidst controversy, Goatwhore were added.

CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS

Christine and the Queens are planning to release their second album this year, and they just expanded their tour schedule, including a second NYC show.

Following international dates with The Killers and Jack Ladder, Alex Cameron (and saxophonist and business partner Roy Molloy) will be back in North America this summer, for more dates, including a show at Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall.

KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD / AMYL & THE SNIFFERS

Having released a whopping FIVE album in 2017, Aussie band have been laying low in 2018 but they’ll be back on the road beginning May 31 in Los Angeles and working their way east, including three nights at NYC’s Brooklyn Steel. Melbourne’s self-described “grimy pub rock” band Amyl & The Sniffers will open and you can check out the new video for “Cup of Destiny”:
