CIGARETTES AFTER SEX
It’s been a couple years since Cigarettes After Sex released viral hit “Nobody’s Gonna Hurt You Baby” and released their debut album. No official word on a follow-up just yet — though they’ve teased it — but they’ve just announced a big 2019 world tour that hits North America in September and October with stops in many major U.S. and Canadian cities. NYC gets two shows: Webster Hall on October 23 and Brooklyn Steel on October 24. Tickets for all dates go on sale Friday, June 21 at 10 AM local time.
HOT CHIP (THIRD NYC SHOW ADDED)
Hot Chip’s new album A Bath Full of Ecstasy is out this Friday and they’ll be on tour starting later this summer, kicking off with two shows at Brooklyn Steel on 9/3 & 9/4. Make that three, as they’ve just added another show at Brooklyn Steel on September 5. Head here for all dates.
Drive-By Truckers are about to kick off their summer tour with a six-show Brooklyn run over two consecutive weekends (we’re giving away tickets for each night). After that they play some more shows in July, then take a breather until September, when they head out again for a newly announced autumn run. Most dates are with Jimbo Mathus, including Atlanta, Chattanooga, Charlotte, Savannah, and New Orleans. See all of their upcoming dates here.
Chamber ensemble yMusic got a lot better known when they collaborated with Paul Simon on an album and his farewell tour. They’ve got dates of their own coming up this year, including a show at Brooklyn’s Bell House on June 25 that’s with Amos Lee, and then shows in Ann Arbor, MI and Amherst, MA in November. TORO Y MOI
Toro Y Moi are going back on the road this fall to further support new album Outer Peace, with shows in L.A., Denver, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, and Boston. They’ll play Brooklyn in August as part of Afropunk fest. Head here for dates.
Los Lobos don’t ever seem to stop touring and they’ve got West, West Coast, and Midwest dates this summer and they’ll be back out for more North American dates this this fall, including the Southwest, Pacific Northwest and then East Coast shows, including a stop at Kingston, NY’s Ulster Performing Arts Center on 10/20. They’ll then be back in NYC around the holidays to play The Concert Hall at New York Society for Ethical Culture on December 14. Los Lobos usually play City Winery in Decmber but the venue will be between locations. Head here for all dates
ROY ORBISON / BUDDY HOLLY (HOLOGRAMS)
Hologram tours continue to be a thing, and now there’s one happening for rock n’ roll legends Buddy Holly (who passed away The Day The Music Died) and Roy Orbison (who passed away in 1988). The “Rock ‘N’ Roll Dream Tour’ begins in San Francisco and also hits NY, NJ, Denver, Salt Lake City, Ft. Lauderdale, Atlanta, Toronto, and more. All dates at RoyAndBuddy.com.
NJ indie rockers Pinegrove recently announced a Webster Hall show (which is long sold out), and they’ve now announced a lengthy tour surrounding that show, including another NYC show (9/29 at Brooklyn Steel), a NJ show (9/28 at White Eagle Hall), and stops in New Haven, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Philly, DC, LA, and more. BLACK LABEL SOCIETY / THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER / ALIEN WEAPONRY
It’ll be a double dose of “Black” bands when Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde’s long-running Black Label Society and melodic death metal vets The Black Dahlia Murder team up for a trek this late summer/early fall. New Zealand’s Alien Weaponry are also coming along for the ride, which kicks off in California and ends in Florida and hits Houston, Cleveland, Montclair, Boston, and more in between. All dates here.
Austin rockers White Denim will be on the road again in continued support of this year’s Side Effects this fall. The newly-announced dates include Asbury Park (The Saint on 10/1), NYC (LPR on 10/3), Jersey City (White Eagle Hall on 10/5), Philly, Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Boston, Hartford, DC, Atlanta, and more. KITTY / THE POM POMS
American Pleasure Club member Kitty (fka Kitty Pryde) released a new solo album of self-produced electro-pop, Rose Gold, earlier this year, and she continues to play shows supporting it, including a newly announced NYC headlining date at Mercury Lounge on August 17. That’s in addition to a Washington DC show a few days earlier, as well as a show from The Pom-Poms, her project with her husband Sam Ray. They open Sir Babygirl’s Elsewhere Rooftop show on June 25.

This perfectly-named trek is called the Legendary Nights Tour.
Becca Mancari announced her first headlining tour, and she’s promising to play all the songs from her great 2017 debut album and a “bunch of new songs.”

CHELSEA WOLFE / IOANNA GIKA
Chelsea Wolfe announced a new acoustic/folk-oriented album, and she’ll support it on an acoustic tour with her Sargent House labelmate Ioanna Gika.
SQUEEZE TOUR OPENERS (TMBG, X, MARSHALL CRENSHAW, MORE)
Squeeze will be on the “Difford & Tilbrook Songbook” tour this summer and including West Coast dates with X as openers. They’ve just announced openers for the rest of the tour, including They Might Be Giants, KT Tunstall, Marshall Crenshaw and more.
THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS
Extremely prolific post-punk psych vets The Legendary Pink Dots are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year on tour, starting October 2 in Kansas City, and wrapping up in Denver on Halloween with stops in most major U.S. and Canadian cities along the way.
