BÉLA FLECK

He’s usually out with The Flecktones, but banjo master Béla Fleck will go on a short solo tour in late summer, hitting Washington, CT, Brooklyn, East Hapton, NY, North Adams, MA, Flagstaff, AZ, and Berryville, VA. The Brooklyn date (his first-ever solo show in NYC) is at Murmrr Theatre on 8/4. Then in the fall, he’ll be out on an extensive tour with bass fiddle player Edgar Meyer and tabla master Zakir Hussain which includes a NYC show at Town Hall on 11/15. ÓLAFUR ARNALDS

Icelandic composer, musician and producer Ólafur Arnalds will release his new album, re:member, on August 21 and you can check out the video for new single “saman” below. He’s also announced North American tour dates, including a short November East Coast run with shows in Washington, DC, Philadelphia and NYC. He’ll be back in early 2019 for more shows, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, and more. has dates in the UK, Europe and elsewhere, too. EYES OF LOVE

Brooklyn songwriter Andrea Schiavelli, who used to play in Nude Beach and Punks on Mars, has been making music with Eyes of Love for a few years now and will release his debut LP under that name in August. Before that, Eyes of Love have a few East Coast tour dates, hitting Boston, Philadelphia, Portland, ME and Brooklyn next week.

XASTHUR (with Wino, and Prophecy Fest US)

Black metal legend turned acoustic project Xasthur signed to Prophecy Productions, and they’re playing the Invisible Oranges-presented Prophecy Fest US, which takes place at Knitting Factory Brooklyn on November 2 and 3. The lineup is gradually being revealed, and so far the only other band announced is Year of the Cobra. As mentioned, Xasthur is also touring with fellow acoustic metal musician Wino, and West Coast dates are also with Six Organs of Admittance. All dates and more info here.

DALE CROVER BAND

Melvins drummer Dale Crover released his debut solo album, The Fickle Finger of Fate, this year, and now he’s set to make the live debut of the Dale Crover Band, which also features bassist Steven McDonald (of Redd Kross, OFF!, and the current Melvins lineup), guitarist Toshi Kasai (who’s worked on several Melvins albums and currently plays in Big Business), and drummer Mindee Jorgensen (who’s played in Peach Kelli Pop and other bands). The show happens at The Hi Hat in LA on 9/2, opening for All Souls, who recently opened the Melvins tour. Melvins are also on tour now. Stream Dale’s album:

MINUS THE BEAR

Minus the Bear’s farewell tour went on sale today, and after the NYC show sold right out, they added a second one. Updated dates here.

GLORIETTA (supergroup ft. Matthew Logan Vasquez)

Glorietta is a new band featuring Delta Spirit’s Matthew Logan Vasquez, Noah Gundersen, Wild Child’s Kelsey Wilson, David Ramirez, Jason Robert Blum, and Grupo Fantasma/Brownout’s Adrian Quesada, and they have an album and tour on the way.

COUNTERPARTS / BEING AS AN OCEAN / HAVE MERCY / VARIALS

Metalcore band Counterparts announced a new EP, Private Room, which collects B sides from their last two albums (due 9/7 via Pure Noise), and a tour with Being As An Ocean, Have Mercy, and Varials. The tour kicks off at NYC’s Gramercy Theatre on 9/20 and wraps up back in the Northeast at Philly’s Foundry on 10/21. All dates and tickets here. Watch the video for “Monument” from the new EP:
