He’s got more dates in November which are with Cassandra Jenkins and include stops in Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles, Mill Valley, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. While he doesn’t have any solo shows lined up for NYC, The Hold Steady have their annual “Massive Nights” shows at Brooklyn Bowl in December. Head here for all Craig Finn tour dates.

PAUL SIMON

Paul Simon officially retired from touring earlier this year, but he continues to play one-off dates for charity, like his August Hawaii dates. He also headlines San Francisco’s Outside Lands, and he’s added a “very special Outside Lands pop-up show” on August 9 at Oakland’s Fox Theater. Festival ticketholders will get first crack at tickets with a presale beginning on August 1 at 10 AM PDT, and tickets go on sale to the general public on August 2 at 10 AM PDT.

TELEFON TEL AVIV

Joshua Eustis brought Telefon Tel Aviv out of retirement in 2016, which was the first time since the tragic death of his musical partner, Charlie Cooper, back in 2009. He’s now back with the first new TTA album in 10 years, titled Dreams Are Not Enough which will be out September 27 via Ghostly.  He’s got live shows lined up, too, including Brooklyn’s National Sawdust and Ghostly 20th Anniversary celebrations in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

DEADBEAT BEAT

Chicago’s Deadbeat Beat includes drummer/vocalist Maria Nuccilli (Outrageous Cherry) and guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Alex Glendening (Tyvek, Stef Chura, The Moles) and make jangly indie rock that’s recommended to fans of The Clean. The group’s new album, How Far, is out this week and you can check out two tracks from it below. The band are on tour now and play Brooklyn’s Alphaville on Thursday with Patio and Hypoluxio, and they’ve also got shows in Cleveland, Chicago and Rock Island, IL. All dates are here.

BLOOD ORANGE / KELSEY LU

Blood Orange’s free Lincoln Center Out of Doors show with Kelsey Lu is tomorrow (Thursday, 8/1), and it’ll be his first NYC show since releasing his very good new mixtape Angel’s Pulse (which features Kelsey Lu). Blood Orange has other dates after that, including a run opening for Tyler the Creator. All of his dates are here. Kelsey Lu, who released the very good album Blood this year, has two other NYC shows: Afropunk Brooklyn and Get Lost NYC at Knockdown Center.

THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE opening for RIDE

Philly’s atmospheric, genre-defying indie rockers The Spirit of the Beehive continue to rise, and this year they’ll be on tour opening for a legendary band who helped pave the way for them, Ride. That includes the NYC show on September 21 at Brooklyn Steel and many other dates, all of which are listed here.

AJJ opening for PUP

PUP are gearing up for another tour supporting this year’s killer Morbid Stuff, including some of the largest venues they’ve ever played. (The NYC show is 9/12 at Terminal 5, a noticeably bigger room than PUP’s recent Brooklyn Steel show.) Folky indie-punks AJJ were tapped to open the first four dates of the tour — Philly, NYC, Baltimore, and Richmond — which have Illuminati Hotties on the bill too. Tickets and more info here.

RICKY GERVAIS

Ricky Gervais has added more dates to his 2020 SuperNature tour, including a second NYC show.

JIDENNA

Jidenna’s new album 85 To Africa comes out August 23 and he’ll support it on tour this fall.

Not only does Movielife frontman Vinnie Caruana have a new band with hardcore legend Sammy Siegler called Constant Elevation, he also has an upcoming solo EP and solo tour.

BONNY LIGHT HORSEMAN

Bonny Light Horseman is a new supergroup featuring Anais Mitchell, Eric D Johnson (Fruit Bats), and The National/Craig Finn/Hiss Golden Messenger collaborator Josh Kaufman, and they just released their debut single and have more upcoming shows.

CLITERATI

Oregon hardcore band Cliterati have so far released two powerful singles off their upcoming album Ugly Truths, Beautiful Lies, and they’ve also got a tour starting in Denver this weekend and hitting the Northeast in mid-August.

TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET / MEAN JEANS / CLOWNS / JEN POP

Mean Jeans have a new song out today and you can also catch them on the 2019 Fat Tour with their Fat Wreck Chords labelmates Teenage Bottlerocket, Clowns, and Jen Pop (of The Bombpops).
