LIL UGLY MANE / WICCA PHASE SPRINGS ETERNAL

In addition to experimental rapper Lil Ugly Mane’s Brooklyn show on Market Hotel on 7/25 with Section H8, Blu Anxxiety, The Fight and Royal Hounds, he’s playing another Brooklyn show with emo-rapper Wicca Phase in September: Brooklyn Bazaar on 9/28, also with Dana Dentata and MIRSY. We aren’t aware of any other Lil Ugly Mane dates at the moment, but Wicca Phase is also touring Europe/UK this year; all dates here.

COMEDY BANG! BANG!

Scott Aukerman has added a couple more dates to the Comedy Bang! Bang! 10th Anniversary tour with Paul F. Tompkins and Lauren Lapkus: Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center on November 11 and Washington DC’s Warner Theatre on November 12. Tickets are on presale (password: BANGBANG).

VIVIAN GIRLS

Vivian Girls broke up in 2014, playing farewell shows at Baby’s All Right, and Death by Audio. Now, five years later, Cassie Ramone, Katy Goodman and Ali Koehler (who all live in L.A. now) have reformed Vivian Girls and will release their first new album in eight years, Memory, on September 20 via Polyvinyl. They’ll be on tour in October and November.

TWIN PEAKS

Chicago’s Twin Peaks just announced their first album in three years and have expanded their fall tour which has them out with Lala Lala and Post Animal

DAUGHTER OF SWORDS

Daughter of Swords, the project of Mountain Man’s Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, is touring behind her recently-released debut album Dawnbreaker (Nonesuch). The tour hits New Haven, Brooklyn (Union Pool on 9/13), DC, Nashville, Austin, LA, San Francisco (with Mountain Man’s Molly Sarle), Portland, Seattle, and more. As mentioned, she’s also opening fellow Mountain Man-related band Sylvan Esso’s Beacon Theatre shows in November. All dates here.

MOLLY SARLÉ (MOUNTAIN MAN)

Meanwhile, Mountain Man’s Molly Sarle has a new solo album out in September (check out her new single) and will be on tour with Daughter of Swords (as mentioned above), as well as dates with Sylvan Esso (which includes Mountain Man’s Amelia Meath) and Bedouine. She’s  also got a few headline shows, including Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on October 17. All dates are here.

SPELLLING

Chrystia Cabral released Mazy Fly, her second album as SPELLLING, back in February and will be on tour this fall with Boy Harsher, hitting Portland, Seattle, Spokane, Boise, Salt Lake City, Denver, Madison, Toronto, and Montreal. She’s got a Brooklyn show right after that tour wraps up.

PEEL DREAM MAGAZINE

Brooklyn’s Peel Dream Magazine, who released their very good, very Broadcast/Stereolab-y debut album last year, have a few upcoming dates, including Baltimore on July 20, and Brooklyn’s Elsewhere Zone One on August 22 with Activity (new band featuring members of Grooms and Russian Baths).

LURAY

Luray, aka Richmond-based musician Shannon Carey, will release her new album Dig next week via 6131 Records. You can check out single “Green and Golden” below. She’s also got tour dates coming up including shows in DC, Richmond, Minneapolis, Chicago, NYC (10/9 @ Rockwood Music Hall) and more. Head here for all dates.

BLIS. / WEAKENED FRIENDS

Two ’90s-inspired indie rock bands, Blis. and Weakened Friends, are touring together leading up to both bands’ appearances at The Fest.
