PATTI SMITH (BOOK TOUR)

Patti Smith’s new memoir, Year of the Monkey, comes out on September 24, and she has some book events scheduled around its release. She’ll be doing readings, Q&As, and signings in Washington DC, Baltimore, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Philadelphia, NYC (Barnes & Noble Union Square on September 27 and Brooklyn’s Temple Beth Elohim on September 26, both of which are sold out), and more. Also coming up in NYC is her New Yorker Fest talk with David Remnick at NY Society for Ethical Culture on October 11. See all of her upcoming book events here.

ITASCA

LA psych-folk singer Itasca is releasing her new album Spring in November via Paradise of Bachelors, and she’s supporting it on tour.

BAUHAUS

The original lineup of Bauhaus have added a third L.A. reunion show. How about the rest of the country, guys?

THE MAKE-UP

Ian Svenonius’ The Make-Up have East Coast shows in October, and will hit the West Coast in December. You should never pass up a chance to see them.

DRAHLA

Leeds-based post-punk-influenced trio Drahla released Useless Coordinates back in May (stream it below) and just shared a Psychic TV cover. They’ll be in North America starting next week for a short tour, including stops in DC, Philly, Brooklyn (Rough Trade on 9/27), Montreal, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. GIUDA

Italian glam punks Giuda are on tour in North America as we write this, hitting San Francisco on Friday, with further stops in Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Houston, Austin, New Orleans, Atlanta, Greenville, DC, Philly, Asbury Park (House of Independents on 10/10) and more. They’ve just added a NYC show to cap the tour, playing a Rocks Off Concert Cruise on October 11. All dates are here.

INSANE CLOWN POSSE

Juggalos, rejoice – there are tons of chances to get down with the clown in the next few months, including on a boat in NYC.

BEABADOOBEE

Bedroom pop artist beabadoobee, who just shared her ode to Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus, will play a NYC headline show this month before her tour with Clario.

ENSIFERUM / KALMAH / ABIGAIL WILLIAMS / AENIMUS

Veteran Finnish metal bands Ensiferum and Kalmah are touring North America, and US black metallers Abigail Williams (who announced a new album this week) are coming along for the ride too.

IMMOLATION / BLOOD INCANTATION

Immolation’s tour starts this week, and Blood Incantation, who just announced their sophomore album, are opening.

MODERN LIFE IS WAR with DILLINGER FOUR & more

Modern Life Is War have some shows coming up, including the Kingsland’s two-year anniversary in Brooklyn, a couple Midwest dates with Dillinger Four (whose shows are pretty rare these days), and a West Coast run with Defeater.

SOCCER MOMMY with VAMPIRE WEEKEND and WILCO

Soccer Mommy put out a new song today and she’s gearing up for tour dates, including a run with Vampire Weekend and a run with Wilco.

POUND HOUSE WITH DJ DOUGGPOUND & BRENT WEINBACH

Brent Weinbach and DJ Douggpound (aka Doug Lussenhop) will be taking their absurdist, awkward comedy series Pound House on the road in October for a mix of stand-up shows and Poundcast podcast tapings, and they’ll screen a brand new episode of Pound House as well.
