EX HEX (ADDED TO MAC DEMARCO PROSPECT PARK SHOW & OTHER DATES)

Punky, glammy trio Ex Hex are on tour as we speak, playing a few shows in the Southeast on their way to this weekend’s Merge Records’ 30th Anniversary MRG30 festival in Carrboro, NC. They’ve got more dates in August, including a Brooklyn show at Industry City Courtyard on 8/17 (this has been cancelled) and they’ve been added to the 8/6 Mac DeMarco show at Prospect Park Bandshell as part of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! FROM INDIAN LAKES / QUEEN OF JEANS / YUMMM

From Indian Lakes released the very solid new single “No One Else” last week, and now they’ve announced a tour with Queen of Jeans, who are also touring with The Menzingers and The Sidekicks and whose anticipated new album If you’re not afraid, I’m not afraid is due August 23 via Topshelf. All dates (including Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on 11/16) here.

THE LEMONHEADS & THE NUDE PARTY OPENING FOR THE GROWLERS AT SUMMERSTAGE

California band The Growlers are on tour now and and hit the NYC area to play Asbury Park’s Stone Pony Summerstage on July 31 and will then be back to play SummerStage at Central Park on 9/14. The rest of the SummerStage bill have been announced: ’90s alt-rock greats The Lemonheads providing direct support and The Nude Party opening the night.

MATTIEL (OPENING FOR TEMPLES)

Led by Mattiel Brown, Atlanta garage rock group Mattiel, who just released new album Satis Factory, have been tapped to open for UK psych band Temples on their upcoming fall North American tour, including shows in Nashville, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, DC (Webster Hall on 11/7), DC, Philly and Cambridge, MA. TORO Y MOI / CHANNEL TRES

Chillwave survivor Toro y Moi and rising, Godmode-signed artist Channel Tres recently announced tour dates together, including a NYC show for 11/8 at Brooklyn Steel. That show has since sold out, but they added a second Brooklyn Steel show (11/9) happening one night later. All dates and tickets here.

THE EARLY NOVEMBER

NJ emo vets The Early November have been teasing something called “Lilac,” originally due in Fall 2018 but which they since clarified is “going to take a bit longer.” It looks like whatever Lilac is (album title?), it’s almost here; the band announced a fall tour with Have Mercy and OWEL,

SHANNON & THE CLAMS

Shannon & The Clams have a busy summer and fall, out on the road with Greta Van Fleet and then The Black Keys. They’ve also made room for a few headlining shows, too.

HIGH ON FIRE / POWER TRIP / DEVIL MASTER / CREEPING DEATH

This amazing quadruple bill for metal/punk fans goes down across North America in November and December, right after High On Fire and Power Trip both play Austin’s Levitation festival.

SICKO

Cult pop punks Sicko are back, with a new compilation on the way and upcoming shows including West Coast dates and their first NYC show in like 20 years (with Mikey Erg opening).

THE DODOS ‘VISITER’ EAST COAST TOUR

The Dodos are playing their 2008 breakthrough, Visiter, in full at the Frenchkiss Records 20th anniversary show at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere on October 12, which also has Les Savy Fav, Eleanor Friedberger and Diet Cig on the bill, with more to be announced. Before that, they’ll play Visiter in full at a few other East Coast shows.

CEREMONY / GLITTERER / CHOIR BOY

Ceremony are about a month out from releasing In the Spirit World Now, and today they announced a September tour which has them out with Glitterer (aka Title Fight’s Nate Russin who released an album this month) and, for the first half of the dates, Utah nu-romantics Choir Boy as well.

LAMBCHOP

Lambchop are playing Merge Records’ 30th anniversary MRG30 festival this week in North Carolina, and Oregon’s Pickathon and a San Francisco show next week. The band are also plotting a fall tour, but so far only the Brooklyn date’s been announced.
