PARAMORE with SOCCER MOMMY then with JAY SOM

Paramore added two great indie pop newcomers to their tour. There’s a leg with Soccer Mommy (including Brooklyn’s Barclays Center) and one with Jay Som. Soccer Mommy also has headlining shows, plus shows opening for Speedy Ortiz, Liz Phair, and more. Jay Som also plays NYC’s Panorama.

FRANCIS AND THE LIGHTS

Bon Iver, Chance the Rapper, and Kanye West collaborator Francis and the Lights is touring this June, including a stop at NYC’s historic Apollo Theater. All dates HERE.

NORTHSIDE FESTIVAL

The initial club show lineup of the 2018 Northside Festival was announced today and includes  Protomartyr and Deerhoof (who play BrooklynVegan’s official Northside Showcase at Elsewhere on June 9), plus Ought, Flasher, Dear Nora, Liz Phair, Soccer Mommy, La Luz, Kississippi, Snail Mail, weaves, Sam Evian, Caspian, Men I Trust, Common Holly, Empath, and more. The big outdoor show lineups and more are still to come.

SCREAMING FEMALES with THE BREEDERS and more

Shredding NJ punk trio Screaming Females are supporting their great new album All At Once on tour now with Thou and HIRS (who are streaming their new album which features Screaming Females’ Marissa Paternoster, Laura Jane Grace, Shirley Manson, and more). They recently played NYC on that tour, and they’ll be back to open for The Breeders at Terminal 5. (The Breeders’ Brooklyn Steel show is with Flasher and their Capitol Theatre show is with Melkbelly.) Screaming Females also added three Northeast dates for July. Updated dates HERE.

MUSIC AGAINST MASS INCARCERATION II

Parquet Courts will begin their tour supporting new album Wide Awake! at the end of April…which they still haven’t announced a NYC show for. (Northside maybe?) In the meantime, frontman A. Savage will perform at Ridgewood, Queens’ Trans-Pecos on Saturday (4/14) as part of “Music Against Mass Incarceration II,” an all-day benefit show supporting Just Leadership USA, an organization fighting for the closure of Rikers Island and for decarceration and prison closure nationwide. Also playing: February, William Parker, Lea Bertucci, Slam Section, Miguel Gutierrez, Potted Plant, Drunken Foreigner Band, Reps, and more TBA. Tickets are on sale.

TRICKY /  YOUNG MAGIC

Trip hop icon Tricky will kick off his 2018 North American tour on April 30 in Philadelphia and electronic duo Young Magic have been tapped to open all dates. The NYC show happens May 3 at Irving Plaza and is presented by BrooklynVegan (tickets).

Toronto dark synthpoppers TR/ST have select dates lined up for this year, including a show at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere Zone One on April 26. Head (and only full-time) TR/ST member Robert Alfons will also DJ late night after the show (tickets). Other dates include Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party and Calgary, AB’s Terminus Festival in July.

PERE UBU

David Thomas long-running art-punk band Pere Ubu will be on The MonkeyNet Tour this year. Most dates are in Europe (in May and June) but the band will play NYC on August 15 as part of Le Poisson Rouge’s 10th anniversary (tickets). For all dates and tickets, head here. Meanwhile, Pere Ubu just release a new box set, Les Haricots Sont Pas Salés 1987-1991, which collects their albums from when they flirted with pop music (including two albums for major label Fontana).

LINDI ORTEGA

Canadian alt-country musician Lindi Ortega is on tour now in North America supporting her recently-released Western-inspired concept album Liberty. She also tours Europe with Jason Isbell in June.

JEREMY ENIGK

Sunny Day Real Estate frontman Jeremy Enigk is in the midst of a solo living room tour, and he also just announced an expanded reissue of his classic 1996 solo debut Return of the Frog Queen, due via Sub Pop in May.

VAGABON

Vagabon has a busy spring and summer ahead. In May she’ll be on a West Coast/Southwest tour with Julie Byrne that includes a stop at FORM Arcosanti in Arizona, and then she’ll head to Barcelona to play Primavera Sound. Then in July, she’ll hook up with Courtney Barnett and those dates wrap up with a big BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival show in Prospect Park on July 25 with Julien Baker on the bill too. Vagabon also has some headline shows on tap, including one this weekend at NYC’s soon-to-close DIY venue Silent Barn.

MEN I TRUST

Having just wrapped up a tour around SXSW, Montreal’s effervescent Men I Trust have just announced another North American tour that includes headline shows, a stop at Brooklyn’s Northside Festival in June, and dates with Belle & Sebastian.

CHERRY GLAZERR

They just dropped a good new single with an unpleasant name, and Cherry Glazerr will play shows with Portugal. The Man ahead of their upcoming Coachella appearances. They’ve also got some Canadian festival dates in July.
