TANK AND THE BANGAS / PELL

New Orleans funk/soul band Tank and the Bangas announced a fall tour supporting their Verve Forecast debut Green Balloon (which features Robert Glasper and others) and support comes from New Orleans rapper Pell, whose opening sets are not to miss. All dates, including Harlem’s historic Apollo Theatre on 10/19, here. Before that tour, Tank and the Bangas play Afropunk Brooklyn.

FRUIT BATS

Eric D Johnson’s group Fruit Bats just released their first album for Merge, Gold Past Life, and are playing a few shows surrounding their appearance at Merge’s 30th Anniversary fest this weekend (they play Brooklyn on Saturday). Fruit Bats will also be on tour this fall, and have added more dates to that, including stops in Baltimore, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Seattle. YOUTH OF TODAY

Youth of Today — who are reunited with the lineup of Ray Cappo, Porcell, Walter Schreifels, and Sammy Siegler — have more shows coming up including an Asbury Park show in November.

JUDGE

Youth of Today’s Asbury Park show is the day before fellow NYHC vets Judge play the same venue, and Judge also have a Europe tour with World Be Free before that. All dates here.

FALSE

Minneapolis black metal band False are celebrating their great new album Portent by performing it at two exclusive East Coast shows, one in Brooklyn and one in Philly.

DIIV

DIIV will release Deceiver, their first album in three years, in October and will be on tour around then as well, kicking things off at Desert Daze.

JUDY COLLINS

Folk icon Judy Collins will release Winter Stories on November 8. She made the album with Norwegian folk artist and frequent collaborator Jonas Fjeld and bluegrass band Chatham County Line and they’ll tour together too, including a 10-show residency at NYC’s Joe’s Pub.

INFINITY CRUSH (OPENING FOR NICOLE DOLLANGANGER) 

Songwriter Caroline White is releasing a new album as Infinity Crush, Virtual Heaven, on August 9 via Joy Void and she’ll also be on tour with Nicole Dollanganger, including stops in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Denver, Omaha, Kansas City, Iowa City, St. Louis and Chicago. All dates are here, and you can watch the video for “drive thru” below:

COMMON HOLLY

Montreal’s Common Holly announced her first album for Barsuk today and she also has upcoming shows.

DAWES

Dawes are releasing a 10th anniversary edition of their album North Hills on September 6 and will be performing it in full at this weekend’s Newport Folk Festival. That’s falls in the midst of their “An Evening with Dawes” tour that runs through September, including stops in DC, Toronto, Halifax, Ottowa, Wilmington, NC and more. They’ve also got European dates as well — head here for their full tour schedule.

YOUNG THUG / MACHINE GUN KELLY / YBN NAHMIR / etc

Young Thug and Machine Gun Kelly are going on a co-headlining tour surrounding their sets at Rolling Loud NYC with supporting from YBN Nahmir, Polo G, and Killy varying by date.

THE INTELLIGENCE

The Intelligence, who released Un-Psychedelic in Peavy City earlier this year, have West Coast tour dates in August and September, including shows with Ty Segall and Murder City Devils.

LIL TJAY / FLIPP DINERO / CASANOVA / etc

Speaking of Rolling Loud NYC, Lil Tjay, Flipp Dinero, Casanova, Jay Gwuapo, and 22Gz are five of the local NYC rappers playing that fest, and much sooner than that they play a Hometown Heroes Live show at NYC’s Gramercy Theatre on 8/16. Lil Tjay also has other dates, including a Long Island show on 8/29 and Soulfrito Music Fest at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on 8/30 (with Ozuna, A Boogie, Farruko, Gunna, Jeremih, Arcangel, El Alfa, Melii, Jay Critch, and more). Casanova also plays Coney Island’s Interswitch One Africa Music Fest with Wyclef Jean, Burna Boy, 2 Face, Tekno, Tiwa Savage, and more.

ANUEL AA

Latin trap trailblazer Anuel AA recently released his new Shaggy-sampling single “China” (ft. Daddy Yankee, Karol G, Ozuna, and J Balvin), and then he announced a fall tour.

SPANGLISH FLY

NYC’s latin Boogaloo group Spanglish Fly have a new 7″ single, “New York Rules,” which features lead vocals from latin soul legend Joe Bataan. You can catch Spanglish Fly on Northeast dates this summer.
