BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME / TESSERACT / ASTRONOID

Earlier this year, prog metal vets Between The Buried and Me released the two-part Automata, and toured back in the spring. They’ve now announced 2019 dates and that tour hits NJ’s Asbury Lanes on 2/14, in addition to stops in Cleveland, Des Moines, Omaha, Tuscon, New Orleans, and more. The band will be joined on tour by fellow prog metal act TesseracT and post-metal outfit Astronoid. Tickets to all shows go on sale Friday (11/2) at 10am PST. Find all upcoming dates here.

MASSIVE ATTACK (WITH LIZ FRASER)

Trip hop icons Massive Attack will celebrate the 21st anniversary of their classic Mezzanine with a 2019 tour that will include former Cocteau Twins vocalist Liz Fraser (who sang on single “Teardrop” and other songs on the LP) as part of the ensemble.

DEERHUNTER

With new album Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared? out in January, Deerhunter will be back on the road, taking Mary Lattimore and L’Rain with them.

THURSDAY

Thursday announced more Full Collapse / War All The Time shows for 2019, and they seem to be implying these will be the end of their reunion.

JAPANESE BREAKFAST (with WHY? & others)

Japanese Breakfast expanded her tour, adding a second Brooklyn Steel show with WHY? and Hand Habits. WHY? also have their Alopecia 10th anniversary tour coming up.

MEDESKI MARTIN & WOOD / ALARM WILL SOUND

Medeski Martin & Wood teamed up with chamber orchestra Alarm Will Sound for this year’s Omnipshere, and the two will play a co-headlining show at NYC’s Brooklyn Steel on 1/9. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (11/2) at noon. Elsewhere, John Medeski’s Mad Skillet will be touring this fall, which hits NYC’s Brooklyn Bowl on 11/15, and NJ’s Asbury Lanes on 11/18.

FREYA RIDINGS

Rising British songwriter Freya Ridings was scheduled to play NYC and LA shows this November, which have since been rescheduled for 2019, with the NYC show happening at Mercury Lounge on 1/17, and the LA show taking place at Troubadour on 1/15. Head here for all dates/tickets.

MATISYAHU / THE SOUL REBELS HANUKKAH SHOW

Matisyahu will be bringing his annual “A Festival of Light” to NYC’s Brooklyn Steel on 12/6 just in time for Hanukkah, and he’ll be joined by The Soul Rebels, plus more “friends” TBA. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (11/2) at 10 AM. In addition, he’ll also be touring in the fall, including shows in Portland, Seattle, Boston, Washington D.C., Boca Raton, and more. GUSTER with SAINTSENECA, then with NADA SURF

Long-running alt-rockers Guster are prepping their first album in four years, Look Alive, due out January 18 via Nettwerk/Ocho Mule. The band will be supporting the record with a North American tour, which will be opened by Saintseneca and kicks off with a sold-out show at Jersey City, NJ’s White Eagle Hall on 11/1. The tour continues into the new year including a show at NYC’s Beacon Theatre on 3/16, with support from fellow alt-rock vets Nada Surf. Guster’s tour also includes stops in Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco, Houston, and much more. CASS MCCOMBS

Long-running singer/songwriter Cass McCombs announced a new album and tour. It includes two NYC shows which are currently on BrooklynVegan presale (password here).

MAKAYA MCCRAVEN

Jazz drummer/producer Makaya McCraven is touring Europe/UK and then performing the music of his great new album Universal Beings at Chicago and NYC shows with many of the album’s guests.

CITY OF THE SUN

The NYC acoustic post-rock trio headline a hometown show at Bowery Ballroom in December, but first a November trip out west that brings them from Seattle to San Diego. Watch them nail an xx cover:
