TOKE and YEAR OF THE COBRA opening for HIGH ON FIRE

High On Fire recently announced a 2019 tour, and now openers have been added: fellow stoner metal band Toke and Seattle doom band Year of the Cobra (who recently made us a list of of music that influenced them). The tour includes a Brooklyn show on 1/16 at Warsaw. All dates here.

SOUL GLO

Philly hardcore band Soul Glo still haven’t released a followup to their powerful 2016 album Untitled, but they put out a couple small releases this year, the three-song Tour Tape 2K18 and the six-song Case Closed By Migos. They’ve got some 2019 shows coming up, starting with a Punk Island benefit at Brooklyn’s Sunnyvale on January 4 with All Torn Up!, Material Support, and Alouth. After that, they’ve also got a Greenvile, NC show on 2/2, a Philly show on 2/28 with Deerhoof, and probably more TBA.

HOT TUNA

Jammy blues rock vets Hot Tuna have been doing it for nearly 50 years and they’re still endlessly active on the road. They just announced a 75th birthday celebration for bassist Jack Casady, which includes acoustic shows at NJ’s At The Tabernacle on April 5 and Brooklyn’s Murmrr Theatre on April 6. They’ve also got many other dates surrounding those, all of which are listed here.

WILLIAM TYLER

William Tyler’s new album Goes West is out January 25 via Merge and he’ll be playing special release shows in NYC (January 23 at Rough Trade, free) and Los Angeles (January 29 at Gold Diggers). He’s also got a few other North American dates in late winter, starting at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on 2/26, then hitting Philly, DC, Carrboro and Asheville. WARPED TOUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY FESTIVALS

As mentioned, Warped Tour is done as a touring festival, but they’ve got plans for some type of 25th anniversary celebration happening in 2019 and now more details on those plans were revealed. Founder Kevin Lyman tweeted that there will be an event in Cleveland on June 8, on the East Coast from June 29-30, and on the West Coast from July 20-21. Stay tuned for exact cities and lineups.

MARSHA AMBROSIUS

R&B vet Marsha Ambrosius has announced the Nyla Tour for 2019, supporting the recently-released album of the same name. The tour begins in Vegas and also hits San Francisco, LA, Chicago, DC, Boston, NYC (2/22 at Sony Hall), Philly, Austin, Atlanta, New Orleans, and more.

YAWNING MAN

Pioneering desert rock band Yawning Man (who heavily influenced Kyuss and whose original drummer Alfredo Hernández went on to play with Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, and other related bands) are still active with original guitarist Gary Arce and original bassist Mario Lalli, and this year they released the new album The Revolt Against Tired Noises. They’ll support the album on a 2019 tour that includes the Kyuss-related Mondo Generator opening one leg and Freedom Hawk opening the other. The run with Freedom Hawk hits Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus on 1/17. All dates here.

SLOPPY JANE

Sloppy Jane will be taking their one-of-a-kind live show on the road to warmer climates in January, hitting Raleigh, NC (1/16), Atlanta (1/17 & 1/18), and Athens, GA (1/19). There’ll be a Brooklyn homecoming show after those dates, details TBA.

RASPUTINA

Gothy, cello-forward NYC group Rasputina will be on the road in February for a short Northeast tour, playing Somerville, MA (2/7), Saratoga Springs, NY (2/8), NYC (2/9 @ Mercury Lounge), and Philadelphia (2/10). The Mercury Lounge show is part of the venue’s 25th anniversary, and all dates are here.

BE FOREST

Italian shoegaze band Be Forest, who hail from Pesaro, are gearing up to release their first album in four years — listen to two songs below — and are coming to the U.S. in March for SXSW. Before Austin, they’ll play the New Colossus Festival in NYC, and after SXSW they’ll play L.A.’s The Echo on March 31 for a Part Time Punks-presented show, and then they’ll head back to NYC to play Elsewhere Zone One on April 3.

LIL PUMP & TYLA YAWEH opening for POST MALONE

Post Malone will wrap up the year with Barclays Center shows on 12/29 and New Year’s Eve, and it’s been revealed that the super popular SoundCloud rapper Lil Pump and Tyla Yaweh will open both shows. 12/29 is sold out but NYE has some tickets left.

THUNDERCAT

Thundercat has upcoming tour dates including a just-announced 14-show run at the Blue Note in NYC.

COLD CAVE / ADULT. / SEXTILE

Gothy synth bands Cold Cave, ADULT., and Sextile are touring together in 2019, and there’s a NYC show with experimental legends Psychic TV on the bill as well.
