IRON & WINE

Iron & Wine (aka Sam Beam) has slightly updated his tour schedule since we last spoke, adding openers Erin Rae, Ohmme, and Carl Broemel (of My Morning Jacket) to select dates. He also announced a new EP, Weed Garden, due August 31 via Sub Pop. All dates and tickets here. You can hear new single “What Hurts Worse” now:

HOW TO DRESS WELL

Electronic pop artist How to Dress Well recently released an experimental new single, and now he announced a tour with plans to play new music “in an intimate, immersive way.”

LALA LALA / MOTHERS

Lala Lala, the project of Chicago’s Lillie West, has been added to Mothers’ North American tour which includes stops Boston, Austin and many other cities that don’t rhyme with those (like Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on 9/20). Lala Lala’s new album, The Lamb, will be out in September as will Mothers’ new album, Render Another Ugly Method. Mothers just released a new song from the LP, “Pink,” and you can watch the video here:

UNEARTHLY TRANCE

Back-in-action NYC sludge band Unearthly Trance are releasing a split LP with Denver’s Primitive Man on August 17 via Relapse, and Unearthly Trance’s “Mechanism Error” from that split is now streaming. Unearthly Trance also have two upcoming shows at the moment: a hometown gig on 7/31 at Saint Vitus which is a killer triple bill with Spirit Adrift and Wrong, and Psycho Las Vegas.

STONES THROW TOUR w/ JERRY PAPER, KIEFER, STIMULATOR JONES, PROPHET

Record label Stones Throw is presenting a tour this fall with four of its newest signings. All dates (including NYC’s National Sawdust on 10/19) here. Jerry Paper’s Stones Throw debut, Like A Baby, was co-produced by Matty Tavares of Badbadnotgood and it comes out on October 12. Keifer’s Happysad and Stimulator Jones’ Exotic Worlds and Masterful Treasures are out now, as is Prophet’s Wanna Be Your Man, the cult synth-funk singer’s first album since 1984 (which was made with labelmate Mndsgn). Tyler the Creator recently reworked Wanna Be Your Man‘s title track as “Peach Fuzz.”

LADY LAMB

Indie singer/songwriter Lady Lamb must have a new album (or EP or something) on the way, as she just announced that she’ll be playing “a bunch of new songs” on a short Northeast tour this fall, including stops in Burlington, Providence, Portsmouth, and Holyoke. All dates and more info here. Lady Lamb’s latest release is the 2016 Tender Warriors Club EP.

JANE LYNCH & KATE FLANNERY

You may know both Jane Lynch (Glee, Party Down) and Kate Flannery (The Office) mainly as comic actors, but they sing too…and together. In 2016 they released holiday album A Swingin’ Little Christmas, and they will make their debut at NYC supper club Café Carlyle from September 11 – 21. Tickets are on sale now.

MADISON MCFERRIN

NYC neo-soul newcomer Madison McFerrin is the daughter of Bobby McFerrin (of “Don’t Worry Be Happy” fame), and like her father, she often performs a cappella. In addition to performing at Lincoln Center Out of Doors and OctFest, she’s got a video release party for “Insane” happening at NYC’s SOB’s on 8/1. You can listen to “Insane” here:

SLOPPY JANE

Brooklyn band Sloppy Jane released their new album Willow back in February but they truly are a band best experienced live. (You won’t forget seeing them.) The band will be on tour in August, including a couple dates with Cherry Glazzer.
