JOANNA NEWSOM

Joanna Newsom has been doing a solo harp/piano tour this year, and going by the videos from the recent NYC shows, she sounds as amazing as ever. She recently had to cancel her LA shows, and is still working on rescheduling those, but in the meantime, she has Carmel, CA and San Francisco, CA shows coming up in November and she just announced Austin, TX shows for January. Drag City also says, “Hopefully we’ll have more to announce soon.” All dates and more info here.

CASPIAN

Post-rock greats Caspian have announced a West Coast tour for 2020, hitting LA, Phoenix, San Diego, Fresno, San Francisco, Portland, Vancouver, Seattle, Sacramento, and Long Beach. That follows two special hometown shows in Beverly, MA this November with the Losander Chamber Orchestra and a tour of Asia. All dates here.

JESSE MALIN (DATES WITH LUCINDA WILLIAMS)

Jesse Malin released Sunset Kids at the end of summer and is currently  on tour with Joseph Arthur , playing Houston tonight, Dallas on Wednesday, and Oklahoma City on Thursday. He’s got a few more dates this fall, including Evanston, IL and Minneapolis (which are with Joseph Arthur) and Hudson, NY. He’s also just announced a special show at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on December 19 which is with Lucinda Williams (who produced the album). He’s got UK and European dates in 2020, too. THE WONDER YEARS and AARON WEST

The Wonder Years’ Halloween tour is underway now and hitting NYC for a sold-out show at Warsaw this Friday (10/25). The tour sees each band playing a regular set and a covers set, with The Wonder Years doing Limp Bizkit, Trash Boat doing Oasis, Homesafe doing Weezer, and Future Teens doing Carly Rae Jepsen. The only other dates that Wonder Years singer Dan Campbell is playing this year besides that Halloween run is two Asbury Park shows with his project Aaron West & the Roaring Twenties. They’re playing 12/14 & 12/15 at House of Independents, and performing their 2019 album Routine Maintenance start to finish, plus other songs. Night one is sold out but night two tickets are available.

Snoop Dogg announced 2020 dates in support of his new album I Wanna Thank Me.

DESTROYER

Bejar’s back! New Destroyer album in January (the first single’s great) and a tour starting in February.

WIRE

Post-punk greats Wire will tour in support of new album MIND HIVE in 2020.

MOUNT EERIE & JULIE DOIRON

Mount Eerie & Julie Doiron’s Lost Wisdom Pt. 2 is out November 8 and they will be on tour together in December, including a NYC show at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church on 12/14 (tickets). They’ve added a few shows to the tour, including Montreal and a second Los Angeles show.

LIZ PHAIR

Liz Phair has re-teamed with her ’90s producer Brad Wood for her next album and hopefully we’ll get a preview in November when she plays East Coast shows and an L.A. residency.

LITTLE DRAGON

Little Dragon just shared a new single and will tour in the spring.

Young M.A finally released her debut album Herstory In The Making last month, and she has begun announcing headlining tour dates in support of it.

FRANCES QUINLAN (of HOP ALONG)

Hop Along’s Frances Quinlan announced her first solo album under her own name today, as well as solo tour dates.

BOB MOULD

Bob will be on a solo-electric tour in early 2020 with Will Johnson of Centro-matic and they’ll play some towns they don’t normally hit.

PRIESTS

Priests were just in NYC this past weekend for Pitchfork’s music-and-beer extravaganza Octfest where they sported an updated lineup that now includes bassist Anna Nasty (who until recently performed as Olivia Neutron-John). The band are are now in Europe for a month-long tour but will return to NYC to ring in 2020 with a New Year’s Eve show at Rough Trade.

PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT

Peter Hook’s quest to play every song New Order ever recorded live (at least the ones he played on) continues. His upcoming tour has him performing all of 1989’s Technique and 1993’s Republic and it starts tomorrow. Read about what books he brought with him.
