LOWER DENS opening for OF MONSTERS AND MEN

Baltimore-based Lower Dens recently announced their upcoming fourth LP, The Competition, which drops in September, and in support of the new album, the band will be opening for Icelandic indie pop band Of Monsters and Men during their upcoming fall US tour. The two bands will play in Los Angeles, NYC (Radio City Music Hall on 9/5), Philly, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, and tons more. Before this, Lower Dens have a scheduled appearance at NYC’s OctFest on October 19, along with Parquet Courts, Mogwai, Screaming Females, and others. Head here for all dates.

KLAUS JOHANN GROBE

Swedish duo Klaus Johann Grobe (who are a quartet live, these days) previously toured the US earlier this year, but they’ve just announced more North American shows in the fall, ahead of their appearance at California’s Desert Daze in October. Beginning in late September, they’ll play shows in Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, Seattle, Portland, Reno, Vancouver, and several other cities. Currently, the band is on tour in Europe, which wraps up later this month. Check here for all those dates.

SUNWATCHERS

Brooklyn improvisational psych/jazz/punk quartet Sunwatchers released their newest LP Illegal Moves back in February, and after doing some touring behind it earlier this year, they’ll bring these new songs back on the road in September, with stops in Washington D.C., Nashville, Charlottesville, Winston-Salem, Athens, and Asheville. They’ll also appear at Raleigh, NC’s Hopscotch Music Festival on 9/6. Find all upcoming dates in the tour flyer below.

HO99O9 / THE DEATH SET / HODDY THE YOUNG JEDI

Industrial rap newcomers Ho99o9 have added an intimate, one-off date at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus on 8/4 with Hoddy the Young Jedi and The Death Set, and it’s the latter’s first NYC show in five years. This happens while Ho99o9 open for Korn and Alice in Chains’ co-headlining tour.

SLOAN – ‘NAVY BLUES’ TOUR

Sloan will be celebrating 21 years of their (Canadian) hit 1998 album, Navy Blues, with a deluxe reissue and a tour, which starts this fall, where they’ll play it in full.

YOUNG GUV (OPENING FOR TURNOVER & OTHER SHOWS)

Fucked Up’s Ben Cook just released his new album as Young Guv, which is crammed with harmony-laden power pop. He’s got a few tour dates coming up, including a record release show at Brooklyn’s The Broadway on August 22 with Super Natural Psycho, James Matthew VII, Big City and Phantasia. Young Guv also plays Rochester, NY on 9/8, Lakewood, OH on 9/10 and both of those shows are opening for Turnover.

GOSPEL

Gospel were only around for a few years in the mid-2000s, but that was enough time to write one of the most seminal screamo records of the 21st century. They’re reuniting for a Brooklyn show…and let’s hope more.
