MAC MILLER / THUNDERCAT / J.I.D

Mac Miller is releasing his new album Swimming on August 3 via Warner Bros, and after releasing the singles “Small Worlds” (ft. John Mayer & Jon Brion) and “Self Care” (co-written by Dev Hynes), he returned today with the groovy funk/soul of new single “What’s the Use?”, which he made with Thundercat, Dam-Funk, Pomo, and guest vocalists Snoop Dogg and Syd (Mac discussed the new song and his collaborators on Beats 1). Mac also announced a tour with Thundercat, as well as J Cole affiliate J.I.D. All dates (including NYC’s Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden on 11/23) here. Artist pre-sale for the whole tour begins Tuesday (7/24) at 10 AM local (password = SWIM).

(SANDY) ALEX G

(Sandy) Alex G was one of many artists that played the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago over the weekend. Next month he’s opening for Manchester Orchestra on a few dates of their post-Lollapalooza tour, but before that he headlines the free Coney Island Music Festival in Brooklyn on Saturday, August 4th. Shannon Shaw (of Shannon & The Clams), who meanwhile plays Panorama this weekend, is also on that show. At the end of August, Alex G heads to Europe. Dates at his site.

BLINK-182

The current version of blink-182 (Mark, Travis, and Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba) announced a tour surrounding their headlining appearance at Riot Fest, including stops in Atlantic City, Connecticut, and more. They wrap up their Vegas residency this fall.

FUCKED UP

Hardcore boundary pushers Fucked Up signed to Merge for their first album in four years, and also announced their lengthiest tour in a while.

WORLD’S FAIR

Queens rap crew World’s Fair just released their debut album New Lows last week on Fool’s Gold Records (review and stream HERE), and they have since announced a new hometown show: 9/20 at Elsewhere (Zone One). That’s in addition to their previously announced NYC appearances at Fool’s Gold Day Off at Knockdown Center on 8/11 and Warm Up at MoMA PS1 on 8/18.

ARCTIC MONKEYS

Arctic Monkeys are back in North America this week for a short summer tour that kicks off tomorrow at Queens’ Forest Hills Stadium with Mini Mansions and includes dates in Boston, DC, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Toronto, as well as festival appearances at Lollapalooza and Osheaga. They’ll also be back in October for more shows — all dates/tickets are here. They’ve also just released the video for the title track to Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino which you can watch below.

MAXWELL

Maxwell, who will play Forest Hills Stadium in Queens soon, has just announced the “50 Intimate Nights” tour for the fall that will have him playing up close and personal shows in theatres all over North America.

BIG ADVENTURE FESTIVAL

The Big Adventure music festival happens November 3 & 4 at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA with Empire of the Sun, Modest Mouse, Phantogram, Cold War Kids, and more. There’s also a comedy stage with cool stuff like Patton Oswalt, Jim Jefferies, Baron Vaughn, Emo Philips, Hari Kondabolu, Kristen Schaal, Maria Bamford, and more. GRAHAM COXON

Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has made eight solo records but is only going on his first-ever solo tour of North America this fall.

TROUBLE

Atlanta rapper Trouble returned earlier this year with his new project Edgewood, which was produced entirely by Mike Will Made-It, and which features Drake, The Weeknd, Quavo of Migos, Fetty Wap, and more. He’s supporting it with some shows, including Philly festival Made In America, and a NYC show happening right beforehand at SOB’s on 8/30. All dates here.

MICHAEL CHRISTMAS

Boston rapper Michael Christmas is going on tour in support of his Fool’s Gold debut, Role Model.

PILE / SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE

The appealing indie rock double bill of Pile and The Spirit of the Beehive hits the road this fall.

POND

Australian band Pond, who were recently in North America for a spring tour, will be back for more dates in October and November, beginning with the Desert Daze festival
