tours announced: Michael McDonald, Nellie McKay, Neil Hamburger, more

The following new tours were announced. Check the Tour Dates category every day for more.

NEIL HAMBURGER

America’s funnyman Neil Hamburger will be bringing his unique style of Borscht Belt humor on tour over the next few months, including winter dates in PHoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento and more, and then in the spring in NYC (Le Poisson Rouge on 4/11), L.A., DC, Richmond, Charleston, SC and more. Head here for all dates.

MICHAEL MCDONALD CAFE CARLYLE RESIDENCY

Before he heads out on tour with The Doobie Brothers for the first time in decades, Michael McDonald will be in NYC for a residency at swanky supper club Café Carlyle from March 24-April 4. Performances will take place Tuesday through Saturday at 8:45 PM and while tickets are not cheap, it’s a chance to hear “I Keep Forgettin’,” “Ya Mo B There” and other hits in a very intimate setting.

NELLIE MCKAY

Quirky cabaret charmer Nellie McKay will be on the road sporadically now though April, with dates in Denver, Vegas, Florida, California (San Pedro and Bakersfield), Morgantown, WV and more. The tour is bookended with NYC shows: January 13 at Joe’s Pub and April 16-28 at Birdland. Head here for all dates.

POGUETRY (SPIDER STACY, CAIT O’RIORDAN & LOST BAYOU RAMBLERS)

Original Pogues members Spider Stacy and Cait O’Riordan will be going on the “Poguetry” tour this winter, where they’ll be backed up by Grammy-winning Cajun music band Lost Bayou Ramblers.

GUSTAF NYC RESIDENCY

Brooklyn band Gustaf are one of the city’s hardest working groups, and that endless gigging has made them a reliably fun, reliably weird band, thanks in no small part to magnetic singer Lydia Gammill. The band, who still have yet to release any recordings, are in the midst of a January residency at Baby’s All Right that happens Tuesdays this month. The 1/7 show is with SugarLife Orchestra and Sylvea Suydam; the 1/14 show is with Kaleta & Super Yamba Band and Francesca D’Uva; and the 1/21 show is with Sharkmuffin and Poncili Creacion.

FOUND FOOTAGE FESTIVAL / VCR PARTY

Tireless seekers of rare, obscure and unwanted VHS tapes, Joe and Nick of The Found Footage festival will be taking their best finds on the road, including Alamo Drafthouse VCR Party shows.

SWITCHED ON POP PODCAST

To celebrate the release of their first book, podcast Switched on Pop will be taping live episodes on the East Coast and West Coast this month.
