tours announced: Neko Case/Kimya Dawson, Old Wounds, Flasher, more

The following new tours were announced. Check the Tour Dates category every day for more.

FLASHER / PUBLIC PRACTICE / GONG GONG GONG

Post-punks Flasher, who released the very solid Constant Image earlier this year, announced a December US tour with past tourmates Public Practice and Gong Gong Gong, following the band’s run in Europe. These US shows include stops in Brooklyn (Saint Vitus on 12/7), Cleveland, Washington D.C., Chicago, and Columbus. In addition, a tour-exclusive 7″ with unreleased material from all three bands will be sold at these dates. Head here for all upcoming Flasher dates. Meanwhile, they’ve just released a rather amazing, head-trip and very meta video for “Material” that is like a days dive down a YouTube hole condensed into three minutes. The music video industry isn’t what it used to be but this recalls the prime days of Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze. Watch:

GEORGE CLINTON & PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC

George Clinton is retiring from touring in 2019 but he’s packing in tons of Parliament Funkadelic shows before then. They play Leesburg, VA tonight, NYC’s Sony Hall on Friday (11/2), with upcoming shows in San Francisco, Berkeley, Santa Cruz, New Orleans and more. He won’t be fully retired in 2019, either, as P-Funk have Australian festival dates in April. All dates are listed here.

AMANDA PALMER

Amanda Palmer announced that she’d be performing in Cyndi Lauper’s 2018 “Home for the Holidays” concert, and now she’s added a couple more area appearances, as well. Next week, she’ll appear at a Get Out the Vote “After Vote Throw-Down” at City Winery on Tuesday (11/6) with previous collaborator Jherek Bischoff, The Front Bottoms vocalist Brian Sella, and Resistance Revival Chorus (tickets). Later this month on November 30, she hosts a second “Party in the Cemetery” at Colony in Woodstock, NY, with a live set from WEEKNIGHT and a DJ set from Mon Amine (tickets).

NEKO CASE / MARGARET GLASPY / KIMYA DAWSON

Neko Case did some touring behind this year’s Hell-On during the summer, and she’s since added a bunch more North American and Australian dates to her schedule, with killer support from Margaret Glaspy and Kimya Dawson on the US shows. Among Neko’s North American stops include Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Orlando, Austin, and many others. She also has a few dates opening for Destroyer (solo) later this month, after a brief stint in Europe. Find all upcoming dates here, and check out Neko’s new animated video for “Last Lion Of Albion,” which touches on the effects of climate change on animal habitats, below.

VINNIE CARUANA / BRANDON REILLY

The Movielife members Vinnie Caruana and Brandon Reilly, who both also have solo careers (and front the bands I Am The Avalanche and Nightmare of You, respectively), will be playing some co-headlining shows in November, including shows in Philadelphia, NYC (Goldsounds on 11/2 with Spirit Houses and Chris Ahkao), Asbury Park (Asbury Brewery on 11/3 with Spirit Houses and Joe Zorzi), Buffalo, Chicago, and more. I Am The Avalanche also have some upcoming shows, including a hometown Long Island gig, Philly, and Virginia Beach. View all upcoming dates here.

OLD WOUNDS / SEEYOUSPACECOWBOY / CHAMBER

Old Wounds are gearing up to release their newest LP Glow next week, which features vocalist Kevin Iavaroni after he briefly exited the band, only to rejoin shortly after. The band will tour behind the new album, supported by fellow metallic hardcore bands SeeYouSpaceCowboy and Chamber. The bands will be stopping in Syracuse, NYC (Goldsounds on 11/4), Chicago, St. Louis, Denver, Las Vegas, and more. In other news, Chamber just released a blistering 7″, “Final Shape/In Search Of Truth,” which you can stream over at Revolver. Check out all upcoming Old Wounds dates here, and view the band’s new video for Glow single “To Kill For” below.

POWER OF THE RIFF LINEUP ADDITIONS (SCREAM, PAPA M, ENTRY)

LA rock event Power of the Riff will begin with a special kickoff show at The Echo on 11/17 with influential garage rockers The Sonics and supergroup The Primals, with the proper show taking place at the same venue on 11/18. The second date features headliner Sunn O))) (who are celebrating their 20th anniversary), and several more bands have since been added to the event lineup: long-running DC punks Scream, David Pajo solo project Papa M, and LA-based band Entry (featuring mems of Touche Amore). Tickets and full lineup can be found here.

ST. VINCENT

Annie Clark and Thomas Bartlett currently have two of their stripped-down, piano-and-vocal shows coming up to support the new album MassEducation, which features MASSEDUCTION songs recorded in that stripped-down style. Both are in NYC: a sold-out BAM show on 11/20, and a just-announced “American Songbook” show at Lincoln Center’s The Appel Room in February 2019.

FLEETWOOD MAC

Fleetwood Mac added more North American 2019 shows including stops in Denver, Chicago, NYC, Philly, Boston, and Toronto.

TY SEGALL / WHITE FENCE

The two frequent collaborators will hit the road in 2019 for an East Coast tour, including an appearance at Miami’s III Points fest, and further shows with support from Axis:Sova in Brooklyn, Philly, Cleveland, Baltimore, Columbus, and Cambridge.

COME

Alt-rock vets Come are playing a few shows before the year’s end, including two Brooklyn shows at Union Pool on 12/28 & 12/29, Henry Owings’ 50th Birthday party on 11/29 at The 40 Watt in Athens, GA, and more. Thalia Zedek and Chris Brokaw will also be playing a few living room shows on the East Coast.
