Palehound’s third album Black Friday is out later this week, and before she’ll hit the road with Big Thief in the fall (including NYC’s Webster Hall in October), they’ll play a one-off headlining show at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere Rooftop on 7/10. Palehound will also open for The Breeders at Chicago’s House of Vans on 6/15. All upcoming dates listed here.
Songwriter Ada Lea’s debut LP what we say in private drops next month, and she’ll be embarking on a North American mini-tour behind the album in August. Following a series of Australian shows with Methyl Ethyl later this month, Ada will play headlining shows in Brooklyn (Union Pool on 8/2), Toronto, Philly, and Cambridge, bookended with two hometown Montreal shows. Long-running New Hampshire punks The Queers will be on tour this summer, beginning with a series of Texas shows in late June, before hitting other cities like Teaneck, Denver, Salt Lake City, Chicago, Providence, Harrisburg, and many more, before a few shows with The Dwarves in August. They’ve also got an NYC Rocks Off Concert Cruise on 8/10. All dates listed here.
Speaking of busy touring artists, Talib Kweli will soon be playing tons of North American dates this summer, with stops in Boulder, Reno, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Austin, and other cities. In addition to these shows, he’ll also play a run of full band shows at NYC’s Blue Note from November 7-10; there’s an early and late show each night, marking eight shows total. RAMONA / TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET
Philly wiseass pop punk group Ramona release their new album this week and will be on tour with Teenage Bottlerocket this month and shows with Elway and Sam Russo in August.
FIRE TALK RECORDS 10TH ANNIVERSARY SHOWS
Brooklyn-based record label Fire Talk is celebrating a full decade in operation with a pair of special shows, featuring some of the label’s current flagship artists. There’s an Brooklyn show at Baby’s All Right on 9/5, with a lineup of Dehd, Deeper, Patio, and Media Jeweler, and DJ sets from Weeping Icon, Turnip King, Dark Tea, and Monteagle. The other show is at Chicago’s Thalia Hall on 8/30, with a lineup featuring Dehd, Deeper, Patio, and Fran, which is being promoted as an “in the round” setup. Fire Talk signees Dehd (who headline both shows) released their new LP Water last month, and you can watch their video for “On My Side” below.

Last year, Martin Atkins (Ministry, Public Image Ltd, Nine Inch Nails, etc) appeared on a new Planet B song, and this year he’s gearing up to take Pigface on their first tour in 14 years. He confirmed that longtime member Leslie “Ruby” Rankin and violinist Gaelynn Lea will be part of the band’s lineup for this tour.
MUNICIPAL WASTE / NAPALM DEATH / SICK OF IT ALL / TAKE OFFENSE
Crossover thrashers Municipal Waste and grindcore legends Napalm Death are once again teaming up for a co-headlining tour, and this time they’ve got support from NYHC legends Sick Of It All and West Coast thrashers Take Offense.
DEAD TO A DYING WORLD
Dead To A Dying World‘s new Profound Lore-released album Elegy (ft. Jarboe, Thor Harris, Dylan Desmond of Bell Witch, and more) is one of the year’s very best heavy albums, have just announced July tour dates including Chicago, Philly, Brooklyn, DC, and more.
THE AVETT BROTHERS “AT THE BEACH” FEST
Folky rock band The Avett Brothers are playing several festivals later this year, but the band will be throwing a fest of their own in the Dominican Republic in 2020. The Avett Brothers At The Beach fest goes down at Punta Cana’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino from February 27 to March 2, 2020, and features three shows from The Avett Brothers, along with performances from Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Emmylou Harris, Shakey Graves, Dawes, Valerie June, Trampled By Turtles, and several others. The festival is an “all-inclusive concert vacation,” complete with various rooming options and packages. Canadian electronic duo Bob Moses played NYC’s Governors Ball this past Sunday (before weather got in the way), and they’ll be returning to North America for a full tour, which hits cities like Chicago, NYC (Pier 17 on 9/7), Detroit, Toronto, Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, and more. Tickets to the NYC show go on sale Friday (6/7) at 10 AM EST. The duo will also play festivals this year, including Montreal’s Osheaga, San Francisco’s Outside Lands, Seattle’s Bumbershoot, and more. ROLLING STONES TOUR OPENERS
Mick Jagger is healthy again and The Rolling Stones are getting ready for their rescheduled North American tour, which begins later this month in Chicago. They’ve now revealed openers for the tour, which vary by date and include Gary Clark Jr (New England), Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats (Denver), The Wombats who Mick was dancing to in that video (NJ), Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real (NJ & Seattle), and more.
Beast Coast’s GovBall set did get rained out, but they’ve just added a new NYC show (on a roof!) as part of their 2019 tour.
In addition to her recent Good Morning America concert in Central Park and her upcoming appearance at the WorldPride celebration at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, R&B icon Ciara has a headlining tour coming up, including a show at NYC’s Sony Hall on 10/1 and stops in LA, Atlanta, and more. Her new album Beauty Marks is out now.
TERRACE MARTIN (BLUE NOTE RESIDENCY)
Musician, producer, and bandleader Terrace Martin, known for his production work with Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock, Snoop Dogg, and many others, is heading to NYC for a run of shows at Blue Note on June 13-16, as part of “The Martin Family” trio with his father Curly Martin and pianist Larry Goldings. In an official announcement, Terrace says the trio will perform songs from an upcoming Martin Family album titled Soul Enchilada, adding, “Come celebrate love, peace & Father’s Day weekend with us and a few special guests.”
REVOCATION / VOIVOD
Tech-death staples Revocation and sci-fi prog thrash punk weirdos Voivod are teaming up for a co-headlining tour this fall, and that very killer double bill features support from Psycroptic, Skeletal Remains, and Conjurer on all dates.
Before Maryland metal vets The Obsessed play Psycho Las Vegas in August, they’ll play a special one-off US headlining date the night before, happening at Brooklyn’s The Kingsland on 8/15 (w/ Sinister Haze). These are the band’s only North American shows at the moment, which come after an extensive European tour throughout the summer. View all dates here.
Former Ramones bassist CJ Ramone’s latest solo album The Holy Spell… dropped last month, and he’s currently on a West Coast tour with Fat Wreck Chords labelmates Mean Jeans. Once those shows wrap up, he’ll be heading to Europe before returning stateside for East Coast dates in August. He’ll stop in cities like Philly, NYC (Bowery Electric on 8/10), Liverpool, Quincy, Montreal, Chicago, and others. All dates here.
THE OLD FIRM CASUALS
Rancid offshoot The Old Firm Casuals are hitting the road this summer behind their great new album Holger Danske. The tour includes their appearance at Philly’s This Is Hardcore, plus shows with Into Another, The Take, Section H8, Spiritual Cramp, and more.
Funk legends War are still at it half a century later (albeit with one original member), and they’ll be touring the US this summer, hitting Long Island’s Great South Bay Festival on 7/21, and other cities like Rochester, Verona, Detroit, San Diego, Portland, Long Beach, Dover, and more.
