MELTED MUSIC FEST LINEUP
The inaugural edition of Columbus, OH’s Melted Music Fest takes place at The Bluestone on Febraury 24, bringing together some of the most exciting names in psychedelic indie rock. Sitting atop the lineup is Ty Segall and White Fence, along with other great acts including Black Lips, Deerhoof, Kikagaku Moyo, Heron Oblivion, Cherry Glazerr, Ma Holos, and DANA, with additional visuals from Hongo Gonzo Liquid Light Show. PHIL LESH AND FRIENDS (CAP SHOWS LINEUPS)
Last month, the always-busy Phil Lesh announced a run of 79th-birthday shows at Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre from March 14-16, where he’s set to play with “a fresh lineup of old friends and first-time collaborators.” Today, the lineups to these shows have been officially announced, with Phil’s guests for the first two nights being Benmont Tench, John Scofield, Jackie Greene, Grahame Lesh and John Molo. On night three, Phil will be joined by all those aforementioned guests, in addition to Sisters of the Strawberry Moon. FIRE IN THE MOUNTAINS FULL LINEUP
Outdoor metal fest Fire In The Mountains takes place at the Heart Six Ranch in Moran, WY from July 13-14, 2019, and last month the fest announced their initial wave of bands, which included The Ruins of Beverast, Munly and the Lupercalians, and Saor. Today, the fest has revealed its full lineup, which features tons of great acts including Wolves In The Throne Room, Foret Endormie, Lykotonon, Stormkeep, Ails, Spectral Voice, Un, Blood Incantation, and many others. WEAKENED FRIENDS / WELL WISHER
Portland, ME trio Weakened Friends are one of the hundreds of acts playing SXSW this year, and they’ve announced a few US dates surrounding their appearance at the festival. Aside from a previously-announced date at Savannah Stopover before SXSW, the band will be making an NYC stop at The Kingsland on 3/22, with support from Nervous Dater and Coping Skills, in addition to shows in Hamden, Annapolis, Chapel Hill, Nashville, Atlanta, and more. The first half of the tour features support from NJ punks Well Wisher (who also announced dates with Typesetter). Apart from these shows, Weakened Friends also have a few East Coast shows this month (including NJ’s Asbury Park Brewery on 1/25). Tickets are on sale now, and you can view all dates here.
CANDY
Richmond hardcore punks Candy (current and former members of Malfunction, Lost Souls, and Backtrack) made a splash last year with their sonically diverse debut LP Good to Feel, and they’ve recently announced an NYC show at Saint Vitus on 2/17. This is their only upcoming show at the moment.
ANEMONE
Montreal psych pop outfit Anemone were recently added to the ever-growing number of acts appearing at SXSW 2019, and they’ll also be playing a few upcoming US shows in the coming months. First, they’ll be playing NYC’s Baby’s All Right on 2/13 with support from another Frenchy psych group, Champagne Superchillin’, and Brooklyn-based jangle pop band Hypoluxo, before further stops in LA, Dallas, and their hometown of Montreal. Tickets for the Brooklyn show go on sale Tuesday (1/15), and you can find all dates here.
CHRISTIAN SCOTT ATUNDE ADJUAH
Genre-defying jazz trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah blew us away as a member of supergroup R+R=NOW when they played Robert Glasper’s Blue Note residency last year, and now Christian Scott’s got a Blue Note run of his own happening from February 5-8, with an early and late show on each night, amounting to eight shows total. In addition to these dates, Christian will also be playing the weeklong Blue Note at Sea cruise from 1/26-2/2, which begins in Fort Lauderdale, and other dates in Seattle, Oakland, Amherst, Los Angeles, and more, before a brief run in France. Christian Scott last released a trilogy of psychedelic, trip-hop-inspired jazz albums in 2017, Ruler Rebel, Diaspora, and The Emancipation Procrastination. The latter, which includes a Radiohead cover (Scott has also played with Thom Yorke), was recently nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. In semi-related news, a cappella legend Bobby McFerrin, who made a surprise appearance during that R+R=NOW run (Bobby’s son Taylor is in the band), is touring this year with his new group Gimme5, including a four-show run at Chicago’s City Winery, an eight-show run at NYC’s Blue Note Jazz Club, and more. Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are hitting the road in 2019 for an orchestral tour, and hinted at their first new LP together since 2006.

Meat Puppets just announced their first tour with their original lineup in over two decades, and shared a new track.
BUSINESS OF DREAMS
Business of Dreams, the indiepop solo project of Terry Malts member Corey Cunningham, have a new album due out soon on Slumberland Records and they’ll be on tour even sooner, including shows in San Francisco, L.A., Toronto, Montreal, Brooklyn, Philly, and more.
HANK VON HELL TOUR CANCELLATION
Former Turbonegro vocalist Hank Von Hell announced a 2019 US tour last fall, but in a new Facebook post, Hank’s management announced he’ll be postponing all future dates due to a ongoing visa issue, allegedly due to the current government shutdown. “We have been told that this is due to the ongoing Government Shutdown and we cannot get a straight answer on exact day this will go through. Hence why we are forced to postpone this tour until later this upcoming summer 2019,” the statement reads. “Thank you for your support and understanding in this.” To make up for these postponements, Hank announced he’ll be recording an EP to be released on vinyl, whose profits will be “donated to Non-Profit Organization in the U.S, dedicated to training dogs helping veterans with PTSD.
