THE CHATS / MEAN JEANS / THICK

Young Australian punk trio The Chats are gearing up to release their debut album, High Risk Behavior, on March 27 via Bargain Bin / Cooking Vinyl. You can get a taste of their rowdy, shouty, style (they get comparisons to IDLES), with the video for first single “The Clap” below. The Chats are coming to the U.S. to play Coachella and while here they’ll head out on tour with Mean Jeans and Thick. That tour crosses the country this spring, including Charlotte, NC’s Epicenter fest and a Brooklyn show at Warsaw on May 7. All dates are here.

THE 1975

The 1975 are gearing up to release their anticipated new album Notes On A Conditional Form this year and have just announced a headlining tour surrounding Bonnaroo with support from Phoebe Bridgers and The 1975’s Dirty Hit labelmate beabadoobee.

SNAIL MAIL

In addition to appearances at Coachella, Governors Ball and Shaky Knees, Snail Mail have a few other dates, including shows Santa Barbara, Berkeley, Olympia, WA and Saxapahaw, GA. Head here for all dates.

HANNAH COHEN (INCLUDING DATES WITH NATHANIEL RATELIFF)

Hannah Cohen, who released Welcome Home last year on Bella Union, is on tour as we speaking, playing Lakewood, OH tonight. On Friday, she’ll open the Chicago dates of the Modern Nature/Olden Yolk tour, and she’s also got shows in Fort Wayne, Pittsburgh, Philly, DC, Brooklyn (The Sultan Room on 1/24 with  Renata Zeiguer and Uni Ika Ai), and Kingston, NY. The in March, Hannah will be out with Nathaniel Rateliff, including two NYC shows at Town Hall which are also with her partner, Sam Evian. All dates are here.

OPEN CITY / SOUL GLO

Open City — the Philly punk supergroup of Rachel Rubino (Worriers, Bridge and Tunnel), Dan Yemin (Lifetime, Kid Dynamite, Paint It Black), Andy Nelson (Paint It Black, Ceremony, Dark Blue), and Chris Wilson (Ted Leo + the Pharmacists, Titus Andronicus) — have announced three rare Northeast shows with fellow Philly band Soul Glo going down this February.

YOUNG GUV (SOME DATES WITH WHITE REAPER)

Young Guv, the power pop alter ego of Fucked Up’s Ben Cook, released two albums last year and will be on tour starting in February, including shows in Toronto, Omaha, Denver, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Fullerton, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Oklahoma CIty, Atlanta, Baltimore, Richmond, Nashville, and more. He’ll also open for White Reaper in Brooklyn and Asbury Park. Head here for all tour dates.

ETHER COVEN / BARISHI (DATES W/ WVRM, ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, OUTLIER)

South Carolina deathgrinders WVRM (who have a new LP in April) are currently on tour opening January dates for Remembering Never offshoot Ether Coven and Vermont’s Season of Mist-signed proggy sludgesters Barishi. Zombie Apocalypse are also on a few of those dates (like the NYC-area shows this weekend) Later dates on the Ether Coven / Barishi tour are dates are also with Outlier.

HARAKIRI THE SKY / NUMENOREAN / ENEFERENS

Australian melodic/atmospheric black metal duo Harakiri for the Sky announced their first-ever North American tour for this spring, and they’ll be joined by Numenorean and Eneferens. The tour begins at Northwest Terror Fest and then makes its way around the country before hitting the Northeast US and ending in Montreal.
