STEALING SHEEP

UK band Stealing Sheep released their terrific third album, Big Wows, back in April which is another great serving of the trio’s sparkly, quirky, harmony-filled dancepop. You can stream that, and watch their new 8-bit animated video for “True Colours” below. The band will be in the U.S. for SXSW this spring and have just announced that will be part of their first-ever tour here. Dates include NYC shows as part of the New Colossus Festival, as well as a show at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on March 13. There are also a stops in Boston, Philly, DC, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and Boise, ID’s Treefort Music Festival. They were great when they played CMJ back in 2015. All dates are here.

MARKY RAMONE’S HOLIDAY BLITZKRIEG

Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg kicks off a three show “Holiday Blitzkrieg” tour tonight at Ardmore, PA’s Ardmore Music Hall, and then heads to NYC on Friday at Gramercy Theatre and finally Fairfield, CT’s The Warehouse FTC on Saturday. His setlist promises tons of Ramones classics and a few holiday songs too.

DAVID BYRNE’S AMERICAN UTOPIA ON BROADWAY

David Byrne‘s acclaimed American Utopia on Broadway — which features Talking Heads classic and Byrne solo material performed “untethered” with his 11-piece band — opened in October and runs through February 16 at The Hudson Theatre. The show has added a few more performances.

MOSHE KASHER

Comedian Moshe Kasher will release new album, Crowd Surfing, on January 24 via Comedy Dynamics. It’s a 100% crowdwork record recorded at various show he’s done and you can here Moshe’s mastery of the form with the very funny track simply titled “DJ’s Mom” below. Moshe’s got a few live dates coming up too, including a Portland run with his wife, Natasha Leggero, that starts tonight and they’ll also record an episode of their “Endless Honeymoon” podcast in Portland, while there. Next year, he’s got a San Francisco release show with Brent Weinbach, an appearance at SF Sketchfest and dates in DC. Head here for Moshe’s tour schedule.

SOB X RBE

West Coast rap group SOB x RBE remain incredibly prolific, and they’ll wrap up an already-busy 2019 with their new album Strictly Only Brothers, which is due out this Friday (12/20). They’ve also now announced the Strictly Only Brothers tour for 2020 in support.

MISFITS

Glenn Danzig said the “Original” Misfits wouldn’t play any more shows after Madison Square Garden, but that quickly turned out not to be the case when they played Philly last week, and now they’re set to headline day two of Mexico’s Domination festival.

BOUNCING SOULS

Bouncing Souls wrap up their run of holiday shows on Friday at Brooklyn Steel  with fellow US melodic punk vets The Bronx and Strike Anywhere, as well as UK ska-punks The Bar Stool Preachers. Ahead of the show, The Bouncing Souls and The Bar Stool Preachers interviewed each other, and you can read that here. We’re also giving away a pair of tickets:

WAVVES

Wavves, who released two of the decade’s 100 best punk albums, will wrap up the year (and decade) with a New Year’s Eve show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn and they’ve just added another NYC show, this one happening at The Dance the night before (12/30).

GRISELDA, ROC MARCIANO, etc

The Griselda crew (Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, Benny the Butcher), who cracked Jay-Z’s 40 favorite songs of 2019 list three times, have some stuff coming up. Benny the Butcher plays the Smoker’s Club show in NYC this Saturday (12/21), which was just moved from Knockdown Center to Baby’s All Right. Smoke DZA (who Benny released a collab EP with this year), A$AP Twelvyy, and more are also on the bill. Tickets are still on sale. Benny also plays Norfolk on 1/18 with DZA and Philly on 1/31.

Meanwhile, Westside Gunn opens for Roc Marciano (who also made Jay-Z’s list) on Monday (12/23) at NYC’s Sony Hall (tickets). Marci also plays LA on Saturday (12/21).
