THE BREEDERS

The same lineup of The Breeders that made 1993’s Last Splash just released their first album since then and its pretty darn good. Their tour kicks off tonight in Los Angeles and makes its way across the country, eventually hitting the NYC area for three shows.

THE GET UP KIDS

Emo vets The Get Up Kids just released a song from their first EP for Polyvinyl and announced a tour. There’s one leg with fellow reunited emo band The Casket Lottery and one with Knapsack/Jealous Sound offshot Racquet Club and Ageist (members of Mind Over Matter, Primitive Weapons, The Hold Steady, Thursday).

BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE

Toronto indie rock collective Broken Social Scene’s spring tour wraps up this weekend with NYC area shows at Huntington, NY’s The Paramount on Saturday (4/7), and Montclair, NJ’s The Wellmont Theatre on Sunday (4/8). BrooklynVegan is presenting both shows – Tickets are on sale, and you can also enter to win a pair via Facebook.

BODEGA / FRANZ FERDINAND

Brooklyn’s arch, post-punky Bodega are moving up quickly, having only just announced details of their debut album yesterday, and now the group have been tapped to open a few dates on Franz Ferdinand’s upcoming North American tour, starting with their April 8 show in Toronto, and hitting Boston, DC, Philadelphia and finally the 4/15 NYC show at Brooklyn Steel (tickets). You can catch them at Brooklyn’s Alphaville the day before Toronto, and they’re coming to the UK and Europe in May.

MARTIN COURTNEY / REAL ESTATE

Real Estate will be on tour with Habibi later this year, but before that frontman Martin Courtney will play a couple solo shows, quite possibly while wearing a coat and tie, at Manhattan’s swanky Cafe Carlyle on May 10 & 11. If you don’t feel like dressing up and dealing with food and beverage minimums, Real Estate’s tour hits Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall on June 14.

NANCY AND BETH

You may know them as Karen from Will & Grace and Cruxifictorius’ bassist Devin on Friday Night Lights, but Megan Mullally and Stephanie Hunt make charming music together as Nancy & Beth. Their current tour includes a five-night residency at Cafe Carlyle.

BUSTER POINDEXTER

NY Dolls frontman David Johansen, who has played Cafe Carlyle in his Buster Poindexter guise a few times over the years, brings his party-loving alter ego to NYC’s City Winery for a hot hot hot summer residency which happens June 23, July 27 and July 28. Tickets are on sale.

CLOAKROOM

The sludgy, shoegazy Cloakroom have a handful of tour dates coming up in continued support of last year’s great Time Well, their first for Relapse. They’ve just added more dates to their schedule, including an opening slot at the NYC stop of Self Defense Family and Sannhet‘s tour (which also includes Weeping Icon), and Belgium’s Dunk Festival. HAVE MERCY / KISSISSIPPI

Baltimore emo band Have Mercy have announced a tour where they’ll be playing their 2013 debut album The Earth Pushed Back in full. Direct support comes from indie rock newcomers Kississippi, and Gleemer and Super American are opening the whole run too. All dates (including Asbury Park’s House of Independents on 6/7 and NYC’s Brooklyn Bazaar on 6/8) and tickets HERE. Kississippi are on tour now with Dashboard Confessional and Beach Slang and their promising debut album comes out this week.

JILL SCOTT

Neo-soul great Jill Scott is touring this summer in continued support of her 2015 album Woman.

COZZ

J Cole affiliate Cozz has announced the ‘Effected Tour’ in support of his recently-released album Effected (which has guest appearances by Kendrick Lamar, Curren$y, J Cole, and Garren). The tour hits Atlanta, Philly, NYC (5/24 at SOB’s), DC, Chicago, Portland, Oakland, LA, and more. All dates and tickets HERE.

AMADOU & MARIAM

Malian music greats Amadou & Mariam will be touring around Bonnaroo this summer, starting with a show at Brooklyn Steel on June 6. They’ll also play Bay Area summer-long series San Francisco Jazz Fest.

JANDEK

Once the Bigfoot of outside music, Jandek stepped out of the shadows in 2004 and has been playing shows since. That said, it’s been a while since he’s been in NYC, and he’ll play his first show here in six years this summer. He’s also been tapped for Miami Psych Fest.
