QUESTLOVE / THE ROOTS

The Roots’ Questlove was added to Moogfest, alongside founding N.W.A. member Arabian Prince and Madame Gandhi (tickets and full lineup here). The Roots also have their Roots Picnic coming up, along with Summerfest, Clusterfest, and other shows.

SQUAREPUSHER (ADDED TO FESTIVAL OF DISRUPTION)

David Lynch’s Festival of Disruption happens May 17 & 18 at Brooklyn Steel, and they’ve just added a Squarepusher DJ set to night one, “featuring favorite tracks, unreleased material, and his signature visual displays.⁣” Tickets are still available.

THOR

Canadian glam metal pioneers Thor are subject of the new documentary Return Of The Thunderhawk, which will be packaged with their upcoming album Hammer of Justice (due 4/26). They’re also hitting the road, and some of their shows will feature screenings of the new doc, including the Brooklyn show happening May 5 at Saint Vitus with Python opening. All dates here. THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS

UK dance vets The Chemical Brothers release their ninth album this week and have just expanded their tour, playing NYC’s Forest Hills Stadium right before heading to Montreal for Osheaga.

BOOGARINS / MDOU MOCTAR

Brazil’s Boogarins will release new album Sombrou Dúvida! next month and they’ll be heading to North America for shows in late summer with Mdou Moctar. Dates kick off in Brooklyn as part of the Summer Series at Industry City on September 4, and then they’ll play Philly, DC and Asheville, NC. TAMARYN

Having just released her new gothy album Dreaming in the Dark, Tamaryn has a couple live shows on the horizon: Los Angeles at Echoplex on April 24 with Jorge Elbrecht (who co-produced her album), Fossil Arms, and Ochin, and NYC at Littlefield on May 19. She’s got UK/EU dates too.

AZIZ ANSARI

Aziz Ansari has added a third Brooklyn show at BAM, happening May 16. That’s in addition to his two sold-out shows on 5/18 as part of his Road to Nowhere tour.

FREDDIE GIBBS

Freddie Gibbs begins a tour this Friday, and comes to NYC for the High Tide Cruise on 4/20 with Wiki.

DABABY

Having just played SOB’s (where he brought out surprise guest Juice WRLD), DaBaby announced more tour dates, including a much larger NYC show happening at Playstation Theater.

SANNHET / PLANNING FOR BURIAL / ELIZABETH COLOUR WHEEL

Sanhet are releasing a new 7″ (with a new original song and a Joy Division cover) and supporting it on tour with Planning for Burial and Elizabeth Colour Wheel.

THE GOTOBEDS

Pittsburgh’s smartass punks The Gotobeds are prepping their second album, Debt Begins at 30, for Sub Pop and have just announced a few shows in support. They’ll play a hometown release show on 5/25 at Babyland and then play there again as the tour kickoff on June 20. After that they’ll head to Chicago, Columbus, Philly, Brooklyn (7/16 @ Union Pool), DC, and Kingston, NY. They’ll also open for Mudhoney in Pittsburgh this fall. PUP

PUP will be spending a lot of time on the road this year. They’re on a mostly-sold-out tour as we speak, and they just announced a run of fall dates, including their biggest headlining NYC show yet: Terminal 5.
