BrooklynVegan + Brooklyn Bowl Family Reunion SXSW Showcase
Wye Oak @ BVSXSW 2018 (more by Amanda M Hatfield)

The following new tours were announced. Check the Tour Dates category every day for more.

SMASHING PUMPKINS

The Smashing Pumpkins — who are back with 3/4 of their original lineup (no D’Arcy unfortunately) — are going on a tour focusing on music from their first five albums with Canadian indie rockers Metric opening. They’ve expanded that tour once again, adding a NJ show at PNC Bank Arts Center that they’re calling a 30th anniversary show with “special guests, a career-spanning set list, never before seen production, and more surprises.”

WYE OAK

Having just played NYC a couple weeks ago, Wye Oak will be back on the road in late June with an appearance at Canadian festival Sled Island and will be out for most of July and August. They’ve also just announced dates in November, including shows in the South and Southwest. All dates are listed here.

JOHNNY MARR

Johnny Marr will be in North America this week for a few special release shows to celebrate his upcoming third album, Call the Comet, including a sold-out NYC show at Gramercy Theatre on Thursday (5/31). If you didn’t get tickets to those shows, Johnny has just announced a proper fall tour which includes two new NYC shows

SOCIAL DISTORTION

SoCal punk greats Social Distortion will be spending much of 2018 on the road. Their summer tour, which has them out with Aaron Lee Tasjan, Low Cut Connie, and Jade Jackson, starts this weekend in San Francisco. They’ll be on the East Coast starting in September, including the already announced Sea.Hear.Now fest in Asbury Park, and lots more dates.

BEACH HOUSE

Beach House‘s new album 7 is out now, and their North American tour is set to begin in July (after they play Barcelona’s Primavera Sound this weekend). They’ve now slightly expanded their tour, which will now begin a few days earlier at New Haven, CT and also includes Sub Pop’s 30th Anniversary festival in October.

CALPURNIA

Finn Wolfhard (aka Mike in Stranger Things) is not just into cool music, he also fronts the band Calpurnia who are signed to Royal Mountain Records (home to releases by Alvvays, Mac DeMarco, METZ, and more) and who recorded their debut EP Scout with Cadien Lake James of Twin Peaks (the band, not the TV show). The EP comes out on June 15, and they just announced two shows happening the following month: July 14 at NYC’s Irving Plaza and July 24 at Seattle’s Neptune. That’s in addition to previously announced shows at LA’s Fonda Theatre, Osheaga, and a Mac DeMarco-headlined, Royal Mountain-presented show in Canada. Dates and more info here.

WHY?

Indie rock/hip hop band WHY?‘s beloved 2008 sophomore album Alopecia turned 10 this past March, and they’re celebrating the anniversary by giving it a reissue on August 17 via Joyful Noise and playing it on tour this fall.

TENACIOUS D

Over-the-top folk duo Tenacious D, who are working on a new record, are on tour this fall and have added second shows in NYC and Chicago.
