Atlas Obscura Society Chicago: Into the Veil at Graceland Cemetery
Xiu Xiu in Chicago in 2018 (more by James Richards IV)

tours announced: Xiu Xiu, Polo G, Lone, CRX, Callous Daoboys, Kiana Lede, more

XIU XIU

Having released Girl With a Basket of Fruit earlier this year, Jaimie Stewart will be back on the road with Xiu Xiu (which includes Thor Harris) this fall, with dates in St. Louis, Toronto, Montreal, Hamden, CT, Savannah, Atlanta, Brooklyn (9/20 @ Elsewhere Hall) and more. They’ll head to Europe after that — all dates are here.

LONE

British electronic musician Lone recently dropped the new single “Melted (Out Of Body Experience),” and he’s also got upcoming shows coming up in the UK, Europe, the US, Canada, and more. He’ll be in NYC for an R&S Records-presented party at Elsewhere Hall on August 2 with Renaat Vandepapeliere and Cry Baby. All dates here.

PINKNIC (w/ MARK RONSON, CHROMEO & more)

NYC’s Randall’s Island will host the rosé and music festival Pinknic on July 19 and 20, and the music lineup includes Mark Ronson, Chromeo, Moon Boots, Breakbot, and more. For Mark Ronson, this follows the release of his very fun new album Late Night Feelings, and it has now been revealed that Ronson will be joined by Late Night Feelings contributor YEBBA (who was also at his recent Elsewhere show).

CRX (NICK FROM THE STROKES)

Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi’s other band, CRX (which currently includes Brad Oberhofer as a member), will release new album Peek on August 23. You can get an early peek (sorry) via first single “We’re All Alone,” below. The band will celebrate the album with release shows in September in NYC (9/6 @ Mercury Lounge) and Los Angeles (9/13 @ The Echo).

KIANA LEDE

LA R&B singer Kiana Ledé recently released her Myself EP (which features Offset and Jenifer Lewis), and she’s got a tour coming up surrounding her appearances at Bumbershoot and H.E.R.’s Lights On Festival. The tour hits LA, Austin, Philly, Boston, Chicago, NYC (Webster Hall on 10/6), DC, Honolulu, and more. All dates here.

POLO G

Chicago rapper Polo G has been stirring up a lot of buzz for his new album Die A Legend, which has gotten acclaim from Pitchfork, Stereogum, UPROXX, and more. It’s not hard to see why; Polo G is a clearly skilled rapper and his new album is a lot of fun. He’s got shows coming up, including stacked hometown festival Summer Smash this weekend with Playboi Carti, Lil Yachty, A Boogie, Juice WRLD, Gucci Mane, Blueface, City Girls, Cam’ron, DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Maxo Kream, and many others. He also plays Denver on July 3, Philly on July 5, Milwaukee on August 1 with DaBaby, Rolling Loud Bay Area, Day N Vegas, and likely more TBA soon.

INTO ANOTHER (CANCELLATIONS)

Post-hardcore vets Into Another unfortunately had to cancel their Ignaurus shows for medical reasons. They say, “We are postponing the announced shows in NY, PA and DC due to an unforeseen medical diagnosis and the necessity for timely treatment. In the near future we will elaborate. Please accept our profound and sincere apologies.”

THE CALLOUS DAOBOYS

Rising Atlanta mathcore crew The Callous Daoboys released their new album Die On Mars last Friday and if you’re into stuff like The Dillinger Escape Plan and Botch, this is worth checking out. They’ve also got upcoming shows, including NJ, Long Island, and more.

BOYSETSFIRE

Delaware post-hardcore vets boysetsfire reunited back in 2010 and they’ve stayed very active, having released two albums and a few EPs/splits since then. They’re doing a 25th anniversary tour in Europe (including a German festival with Thursday), but first they’ll play NJ’s Crossroads on November 22. All dates here.

JACQUES GREENE

Electronic musician Jacques Greene and rapper Cadence Weapon have teamed up for a collaborative two-song single, and it’s pretty cool stuff. Jacques Greene sticks to his usual production style, which is pretty far from what you’d call a “hip hop beat,” yet Cadence Weapon raps over them with ease. Jacques Greene also has upcoming shows, including Brooklyn’s National Sawdust on 10/23 and LA’s Echo on 10/25.

LIGHTNING DUST (OPENING FOR PURPLE MOUNTAINS)

Lighting Dust, the Vancouver duo of Amber Webber and former Black Mountain member Josh Wells, will release their fourth album, Spectre, on October 4 via Western Vinyl and will be touring with Purple Mountains (David Berman of Silver Jews) in August and September.

WILCO

Wilco have added dates in November to their fall tour — they’ve also added a second NYC show.

BILL CALLAHAN

Bill Callahan added a Webster Hall show to his tour supporting his great new album Shepherd In A Sheepskin Vest.

MOON DUO

With new album The Stars Are the Light out in September, Moon Duo will be back on the road this fall.

THE JESUS LIZARD

The reunited Jesus Lizard announced some winter shows, including New Year’s Eve in NYC.

DAVE CHAPPELLE

Dave Chappelle expanded his Broadway run and now has a total of ten shows.

MARCO BENEVENTO / THE MATTSON 2

Indie/jam blender Marco Benevento announced a new album and tour, including several dates with The Mattson 2.

THE LAWRENCE ARMS

SELF DEFENSE FAMILY

MIZMOR / HELL

West Coast metal bands Mizmor and Hell have a long relationship and now they’re set to tour together this year.
