tours announced: Yaeji, Carl Broemel, Junglepussy, The National, TVOTR, more

The following new tours were announced. Check the Tour Dates category every day for more.

THE NATIONAL

The National continue to expand their tour, and they’ve now added another New York show: a Planned Parenthood benefit happening in Upper Hudson, NY on December 7. That’s a couple months after their two-day ‘There’s No Leaving New York’ festival in Queens, which you can win a VIP experience and hotel room for. The band plays Lollapalooza this weekend, and they’re one of the acts we’re excited to see — recent shows have included new songs and big guest appearances. All dates here.

YAEJI

Yaeji (whose two EPs were among our favorites of 2017) was supposed to have just played NYC’s Panorama (but hers was one of the sets cancelled due to weather), and she did recently play Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party, and now she has added new Seattle and NYC dates to her tour, 10/23 at The Showbox and 11/9 at Knockdown Center, respectively. Both go on sale Friday (8/3). All dates and tickets here.

COURTNEY BARNETT / WAXAHATCHEE

With Pitchfork Fest behind her, Courtney Barnett has added a Chicago show with future tourmate Waxahatchee, a solid double bill we’d like to see though we’re not complaining that NYC just got Courtney, Julien Baker and Vagabon on the same show. Meanwhile. Courtney also just announced a free LA show happening this week (a taping for Jimmy Kimmel), and Waxahatchee heads out on a solo tour in September.

CARL BROEMEL (of MY MORNING JACKET)

My Morning Jacket member Carl Broemel is putting out his third solo release, Wished Out, on September 21 via Stocks In Asia / Thirty Tigers, and lead single “Starting From Scratch” is out now. The album features contributions from Robbie Crowell (Deer Tick), Russ Pollard (Everest, Sebadoh), and his My Morning Jacket bandmates Tom Blankenship and Bo Koster. He’s also touring with openers Steelism. All dates (including Levon Helm’s in Woodstock on 9/22, NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on 9/23, Asbury Park’s Sea.Hear.Now fest, and more) here.

TV ON THE RADIO

TV on the Radio continue to gradually expand their 2018 tour schedule, which now includes a Dear Science 10th anniversary show in their birthplace of NYC.

AJJ / KIMYA DAWSON / SHELLSHAG

Three long-running, DIY-minded acts, AJJ, Kimya Dawson, and Shellshag, are about to begin a West Coast tour together this week, and they have newly-added East Coast/Midwest dates happening this fall (one leg with Laura Stevenson and one with Rozwell Kid). All dates and more info here.

JUSTIN COURTNEY PIERRE (of MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK)

Motion City Soundtrack frontman Justin Courtney Pierre is releasing a solo album and going on tour, including one leg with Pronoun and one with Thin Lips.

LAURA JANE GRACE & THE DEVOURING MOTHERS

Against Me! singer Laura Jane Grace has a new project, Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers, and today she announced their debut album for Bloodshot Records and a tour.

JUNGLEPUSSY

NYC rapper Junglepussy is playing the stacked Fool’s Gold Day Off in her hometown on 8/11 at Knockdown Center, and then she’s got a bunch of other tour dates, including a fall run that has a headlining hometown show: 10/19 at Elsewhere Zone One. All dates and tickets here. Earlier this year, she released her new album JP3, and you can stream that in full:
