YVES TUMOR / BLOOD ORANGE

Yves Tumor teamed with James K for a new single on Warp, “Licking An Orchid,” which is an awesome, shapeshifting dose of experimental pop. He was also added as an opener to the NYC, Philly, DC, and Toronto dates of Blood Orange’s tour, which is an awesome pairing. Blood Orange’s new album Negro Swan came out last week, and he also has dates with Empress Of.

BROCKHAMPTON

Brockhampton have announced a massive fall North American tour that makes stops in NYC, LA, Vegas, Philly, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, and much more.

TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS

It’s been four years since Orlando Higginbottom released an album as Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, but he’s been dropping singles this year, which are out on his revived Nice Age label. “I’ve been thinking about getting the label back up and running for years, I’m not at all sure where it’s heading but somehow the right people are coming forward with sounds that compliment each other.” He’s just released a new single, “Body Move” (listen below), and announced a North American DJ tour with Durante that kicks off September 7 in San Francisco and makes its way East, hitting Brooklyn on October 6 (venue TBA). Head here for all dates.

DIRE STRAITS LEGACY

Former Dire Straits members (not including singer/guitarist Mark Knopfler) have regrouped for an international tour under the name DSL Dire Straits Legacy, whose lineup includes keyboardist Alan Clark, guitarist Phil Palmer, percussionist Danny Cummings, and saxophonist Mel Collins. The band will be joined on tour by vocalist Marco Caviglia, Heartbreakers drummer Steve Ferrone, keyboardist Primiano DiBiase and, interestingly, Trevor Horn (who led the Buggles, was in Art of Noise and Yes during their ’80s 90125 era, and produced hits for Frankie Goes to Hollywood, ABC and Seal). The band hits Long Island, Los Angeles, Nashville, and more. Find all dates here.

VINCE STAPLES

Vince Staples, who’s on a new E-40 song, has some tour dates coming up. He plays Pitchfork’s OctFest in NYC next weekend (Saturday, 9/8), SUNY Buffalo, Austin’s ACL Fest, dates with Childish Gambino, and more.

THE FLAMING LIPS

The Flaming Lips also play NYC’s OctFest (Sunday, 9/9), as well as Raleigh’s Hopscotch, the Arizona State Fair, and more.

THE SPACE LADY

Outsider art cult musician The Space Lady, known for her silver helmet, wings and otherworldly song covers, will be on a rare East Coast tour in September, hitting Miami, Philadelphia, Toronto, and NYC.

KRISTIN HERSH

Throwing Muses frontwoman and long-running solo artist Kristin Hersh has a few upcoming tour dates in support of her latest LP Possible Dust Clouds, which begins in NYC (Rough Trade on 10/30), before two other shows in London and Massachusetts.

PSYCHEDELIC FURS

Alt-rock vets The Psychedelic Furs have expanded their 2018 tour, which includes many shows across the eastern US this fall. They’ll be making a stop at Staten Island’s St. George Theatre on 10/20, along with a bunch of central NJ stops in Red Bank, Englewood, and more. The band will also be appearing in Richmond, Charlotte, Charleston, and several other cities. All dates are listed here.

LOST BALLOONS

Lost Balloons, the duo of Jeff Burke (The Marked Men/Radioactivity) and Yusuke Okada (Suspicious Beasts), have announced five east coast US dates, consisting of stops in Boston and Philly, and three NYC-area shows: Long Island’s Brewhaus Pub on 9/5, Brooklyn’s Union Pool on 9/7, and Jersey City, NJ’s Monty Hall on 9/8. All dates are with openers Pale Angels, and you can find all dates here.

THE PRIMALS (mem DARKEST HOUR, DEAD TO FALL, THE EXPLOSION)

The Primals have members of Darkest Hour, Dead To Fall and The Explosion, but they sound more like ’90s Foo Fighters or Torche. They have upcoming shows, including one in LA with The Sonics.

DARKEST HOUR

Speaking of Darkest Hour, they have shows of their own too.

LIL GNAR / GERM

Skater-turned-SoundCloud rapper Lil Gnar and his collaborator Germ are hitting the road soon.
