check out Trailer Trash Tracys -- single and video released, debut album on Domino in February

by Bill Pearis

While I should figuring out my Best of 2011 list, this week I’ve been majorly distracted by an album that I can pretty much guarantee will make my list next year: Trailer Trash Tracys‘ shimmering debut, Ester, which is out February 7 on Domino. Dark, ethereal and shimmeringly beautiful, the album exists in a netherworld between late-’80s 4AD Records and the Twin Peaks soundtrack, but is not some retro-sounding throwback. Ester sounds 100% Now.

The band just released a double A-side 7″ featuring the stunning “You Wish You Were Red” and the more gossamer-light “Englehardt’s Arizona,” both of which are on Esther. Both are streaming at the bottom of this post, along with the video for “Wish You Were Red,” European tour dates and Ester‘s cover art which, furthering the 4AD connection, was created by onetime Ultra Vivid Scene-ster Kurt Ralske.
