We mentioned yesterday that death/grind/hardcore/supreme-pizza-metal unit Trap Them had a new album in the works. Right on cue, the details have emerged — it’ll be called Blissfucker, and it’ll see a June 10 release via Prosthetic Records.

The announcement comes with the first single from the record, which is titled “Salted Crypts.” Trap Them are four LPs and many short-format releases into their career at this point, and as vocalist Ryan McKenny says in the press release (at great length, ironically, given the shade he throws at lengthy press releases in the same e-mail), the only surprises that most bands can offer on their albums involve unexpectedly high or poor quality. His band’s triumphs at this juncture are triumphs of execution, not inventiveness, and this new song plays to type. As on the finest moments of their preceding record, 2011’s Darker Handcraft, “Salted Crypts” dispenses with the gibberishy grind of their early work and splits its time between taut, dissonant thrash a la recent Converge and big half-time lurches that take full advantage of the band’s Stockholm-noveau death metal tones.

Stream “Salted Crypts” below; you can preorder Blissfucker now. Don’t forget that you can catch them at both nights of Deathwish Fest in Cambridge, MA on July 22 and 23 (tix on sale Wed, 4/9).
