Tricky has visa issues, postpones tour till fall (updated dates)

by Bill Pearis

Visa Issues strike again, this time with trip hop pioneer Tricky who was supposed to be here next week for a show at Webster Hall on June 13. (Same night that was to have been The Pastels at the Bell House that just got canceled due to visa problems.)But “Due to unforeseen US Visa issues” he’s postponing his tour until the fall, around the time he’s here for Treasure Island Fest in San Francisco. Says the man:

I’m really sorry to have to tell you that I have to postpone the forthcoming US dates.

It is a situation that is compeletely beyond my control due to a US Visa issue. All I can do is go through the proper channels and secure the right visa. I hope you’ll bear with me and I’ll make sure that the rescheduled shows are worth the wait.

All tickets will be honored for the re-scheduled dates.

The new Webster Hall date is now October 2 and tickets are still available. New U.S. tour dates are below.

This will give you a little more time to familiarize yourself with Tricky’s new album, False Idols, which is a bit of a throwback to the dark, smoky cool of Maxinquaye and Nearly God, working with a trio of female vocalits who recall his pairings with Martina Topley Bird or Elizabeth Frazier. Single “Bonnie & Clyde” (featuring Francesca Belmonte) is pretty great and you can check it out below.
