Troy Ave pleaded not guilty to Irving Plaza shooting, remanded without bail
Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave (real name Roland Collins) was arrested and charged with attempted murder and charged with criminal possession of a weapon after video surfaced of the shooting at Irving Plaza last week. According to NY Daily News, Troy Ave’s charges could be upgraded to murder in the death of Ronald McPhatter (aka Troy Ave’s bodyguard B$B Banga) if ballistic tests determine it was in fact his gun that shot McPhatter. Troy, who also reportedly shot himself in the leg, pleaded not guilty, saying he was acting in self-defense after he and McPhatter were shot by an unnamed assailant. The defense’s account said the gun had been dropped by that assailant and picked up by Troy. Troy was remanded without bail.
