Trump threatening to declare Antifa a Terror Organization
Long before anti-fascist movement Antifa became a household name and became known for battling the growing fascist right wing groups that have gained power since Trump was elected, we knew them as people who fought to keep nazis out of the music scene, a practice they are still very much known for (ask any black metal fan). In the last week or so, we’ve seen politicians like Ted Cruz refer to Antifa as a “terrorist organization,” and now the president has tweeted this:
Consideration is being given to declaring ANTIFA, the gutless Radical Left Wack Jobs who go around hitting (only non-fighters) people over the heads with baseball bats, a major Organization of Terror (along with MS-13 & others). Would make it easier for police to do their job!

Also caught up in this shitstorm is teenage Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg, who’s on The 1975’s new song and whose work Bjork incorporated into her Cornucopia live show. In the photo of Greta and The 1975’s Matty Healy that accompanied the release of The 1975’s new song, Greta was wearing a shirt that says “antifascist all stars.” She ended up taking the photo off of her own social media pages, and said, “Yesterday I posted a photo wearing a borrowed T-shirt that says I’m against fascism. That T-shirt can apparently to some be linked to a violent movement. I don’t support any form of violence and to avoid misunderstandings I’ve deleted the post. And of course I am against fascism.” She later explained further, adding, “Saying no to fascism isn’t a political view, it’s common sense.”
Apparently not to the President of the United States. Here are Greta’s tweets:

It’s funny how the same people who say I don’t understand anything about anything, are the ones who expect me to know everything about a T-shirt that can be bought everywhere with many different captions, and that it apparently -according to some – can be linked to violence.

I don’t support any political movement, or any political views. I’m against all forms of fascism and I’ll never support any kind of violence. All changes must come from democracy, equal rights, nonviolence and peace.
