Tunng reunite with Sam Genders for new LP (listen to "Dark Heart")

UK band Tunng are gearing up to release Songs You Make At Night which is their first album in five years and their first to feature founding member Sam Genders since 2007’s Good Arrows. Sam’s songwriting and warm voice (which always reminded me of Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals) are a welcome return, and Tunng’s style — bouncy electronics mixed with acoustic instruments — sounds as inviting as ever. A great example is the warm-n-groovy “Dark Heart,” which makes its premiere in this post. Says Sam, “It’s a song about embracing and moving through the darker parts of yourself in order to feel more at peace with the world and your place in it.” Listen to that and previous single “ABOP,” below.

Songs You Make At Night is out August 24 via Full Time Hobby, and Tunng will be on tour in the UK and Europe this fall. All dates are listed below.

Earlier this year, Tunng’s Mike Lindsay released a collaborative album with Laura Marling under the name LUMP.
