TV Eye is a new venue/gallery located at 1647 Weirfield St, on the Ridgewood/Bushwick border (and right by Trans-Pecos), which is described as a “funhaus, party palace, venue, dance club, bar, cafe, art gallery, courtyard, & social club.” Its live music room holds around 250 people, and there are three other rooms as well, and the kitchen is run by Barker & Sons. TV Eye will be open from 4 PM – 4 AM every day.

The venue brought to you by a diverse, distinctly New York group of people: Caleb Braaten, who also owns Sacred Bones Records; Todd Abramson, former Maxwell’s booker and current booker at Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall and Monty Hall (and WFMU’s Todd-O-Phonic Todd); DJ, party-thrower and bon vivant Jonathan Toubin; Michael Swier, owner of Bowery Ballroom, Mercury Lounge and LA’s Teragram Ballroom (and Bowery Presents co-founder who sold his stake years ago); Micheal’s brother, Brian Swier, the architect who designed Bowery, Teragram, Mercury Lounge, Music Hall of Williamsburg; as well as Michael’s longtime employee Amanda Haase, and the very recognizable Jasper McGandy of Home Sweet Home (and the bands Cult of Youth, Anasazi and The Hunt). Brandon Stosuy, onetime Pitchfork/Stereogum editor and Creative Independent founder and Caleb’s partner in managing bands, has mentioned he will be involved in the programming of TV Eye’s Zone 6 Art Gallery.

TV Eye opened on New Year’s Eve with Toubin’s NY Night Train 13th Annual New Years Ball, and then Toubin hosted a New Year’s Day hangover party as well. This weekend is the venue’s soft opening, with Toubin’s “Shakin’ All Over Under Sideways Down” party hosting its first edition at TV Eye starting 10 PM tonight (1/3); it’s free. On Saturday (1/4) it’s another free party, “Beauty & the Beat Dance w/Edan & Friends.”

They haven’t revealed a full concert calendar yet, but there are a few of announced shows on the books: a Wicked Willow EP release party on January 10 with and Priestess (tickets); Barrence Whitfield and The Savages on January 16 (tickets). and North Carolina garage punks Paint Fumes, The Advertisers and Cold Dice on February 19 (tickets).
