Deep Throat Choir are an all-female singing collective formed by Luisa Gerstein of London band Landshapes. Bringing in voices from other groups like Peggy Sue, and Stealing Sheep (and more), and working with Matthew White, the Horsemeat Disco folks and others, Deep Throat Choir have been surprising and charming UK audiences for a couple years.

The Choir are set to release their debut album, Be OK, on February 17 via Bella Union which features three originals, as well as covers of songs by Bjork, Electrelane, Sylvan Esso, Amy Winehouse and others — arrangements consisting of basically drums, a little bass and Deep Throat Choir’s wonderful harmonies. It’s a unique, charming record (a little bit like Steeling Sheep’s Not Real at times) and you can check out Be OK‘s title track — one of the originals — right now. The video for it, directed by Anika Mottershaw and Kimberly Arms, makes its premiere in this post and you can watch it below.

Deep Throat Choir will be teaming with Horse Meat Disco for two shows at London’s The Jazz Cafe on January 20 & 21 where they will perform a selection of disco classics.

Check out the “Be OK” video and a few other videos (along with album art and tracklist) below.
