Umbra Vitae

Umbra Vitae (Converge's J Bannon) share new song off debut LP

As mentioned, Converge frontman J Bannon is following his more somber Wear Your Wounds project with a project on the total opposite side of the musical spectrum, Umbra Vitae, an old school death metal-inspired band that features two other Wear Your Wounds members — Mike McKenzie (also of The Red Chord and more) and Sean Martin (also ex-Hatebreed and more) — plus bassist Greg Weeks (The Red Chord, Labor Hex, etc) and drummer Jon Rice (ex-Job for a Cowboy, Uncle Acid, etc). They’ve now shared the second single off their upcoming debut album Shadow of Life, and it’s even more brutal and death-y than the first. It’s called “Mantra Of Madness,” and it’s a two-and-a-half minute rager that comes with an ominous, black-and-white video directed by Chariot Of Black Moth. Check it out below.

The album drops May 1 via Bannon’s Deathwish Inc.
