Valient Thorr @ Gramercy Theatre
The Valient Thorr / Nashville Pussy co-headlining tour rolled through NYC on December 18 for a show at Gramercy Theatre. This tour was Valient Thorr’s first without bass player Nitewolf, one of the founding members, who had been with the band since 2000. He was replaced by Storm Thorr, who also plays in Revolving Beast with guitar player Eidan Thorr. The substitution didn’t slow them down at all, their set just kept increasing in speed until they finished with their classic track “Tough Customer.” Nashville Pussy have been going strong for almost twenty years now with core members Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys, and this tour was in support of their new album, Up the Dosage, their first new record since 2009. The show opened with a set from Detroit’s Against the Grain, who sounded like they learned a thing or two from Motorhead. Pictures of all three bands are in this post.
I didn’t get to finish Nashville Pussy’s set because I headed over to Brooklyn to catch Valient Thorr again at their late show at the much smaller Grand Victory. Local rippers Tournament opened and Thorr tore it up until the late hours. Some pictures from that one, and more shots of the Gramercy show, below…
