Vampire Weekend "94.5%" done with LP4, playing first shows in 4 years in 2 weeks

Vampire Weekend‘s return has been taking a while but it’s finally about to properly begin… in just two weeks. After announcing some festival appearances like Lollapalooza and End of the Road, the band now revealed that they will take the stage for the first time in four years at Ojai, California’s Libbey Bowl on June 16 and 17.

They write: “We’re playing two shows in Ojai this Father’s Day Weekend at the beautiful Libbey Bowl. One’s on Saturday night, the other’s Sunday morning. Probably worth catching both ;). Richard Pictures (featuring Time CrisisJake Longstreth for all the TC Heads) is opening at both shows.” (Time Crisis, for anyone who is unfamiliar, is Ezra Koenig’s Beats 1 show, and Jake is also the older brother of Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth.) Tickets for the California shows go on sale Friday (6/10) at 10 AM Pacific.

As Stereogum points out, Vampire Weekend also said in Instagram comments that they are “94.5%” done with their long-awaited followup to 2013’s great Modern Vampires of the City. They also changed their Facebook profile and cover pictures to this:
