Vattnet Viskar shorten name to Vattnet, release first song with new lineup

Vattnet Viskar have shortened their name to simply Vattnet, and vocalist/guitarist Nick Thornbury left the band, with bassist Casey Aylward moving to guitar and stepping up as lead vocalist. They’ve also signed to New Damage Records, who will release their next album. While we wait for more info on a followup to 2015’s Settler, you can get a taste of Vattnet’s drastically different sound from new single “Dark Black,” which premieres in this post.

The atmospheric black metal of Settler is nowhere to be found on “Dark Black,” which has Aylward singing exclusively with soaring, clean vocals that sound closer to Circa Survive than to anything Vattnet have done previously. “I did scream once,” he posted on the band’s Facebook in December.
