Venus Williams fully expects to return to tennis despite being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that causes fatigue and led to her shocking decision to withdraw from the U.S. Open.

“Absolutely, absolutely. The good news for me is now I know what is happening after years of not knowing. I feel like now I can move on,” the seven-time grand slam winner told ABC’s “Good Morning America” program on Thursday.

“I feel really positive about getting back on the court and at least being able to feel normal. I feel like now I can get better.”

Williams withdrew from the year’s final grand slam on Wednesday with Sjogren’s Syndrome, a chronic disease where white blood cells attack moisture-producing glands and can cause dysfunction of organs and body systems. [Reuters]

Wye Oak somewhat akwardly provided live musical entertainment at the U.S. Open on Thursday (9/1). Playing out in the open as people walked back and forth to tennis matches, the occasional passerby would stop to take in some of the duo’s undeniable tunes. To quote Diana, “At one point, there was a pair of older men, and they exclaimed incredulously, ‘she’s got a tattoo!’ And there were some polite older ladies who told Andy in between songs, ‘That was lovely! Have a nice day!'”

Bands like Miniature Tigers (9/2), Ava Luna (9/3), Great Lake Swimmers (9/4) and others will play the same spot in the coming days. More pictures from Thursday’s event, below…
