'VH1 Classic' becoming 'MTV Classic,' showing 'Beavis & Butt-head,' 'Daria,' 'Cribs' & more

mtv-classic

Monday, August 1 is the 35th anniversary of MTV and on that date they will also rebrand offshoot cable channel VH1 Classic as MTV Classic. The channel will focus on MTV’s original programming that aired in the ’90s and early ’00s, including Daria, Beavis and Butt-head, Aeon Flux, Wonder Showzen, MTV Cribs, Jackass, Clone High, The Real World, Laguna Beach, and more. (I would like to put in a vote for dusting off Dead at 21, Sifl and Olly, Super Adventure Team and soap opera Undressed, too.) Fridays will be dedicated to music programming, including “Unplugged,” “Storytellers” and live performances. They may even show…music videos.

The first hour on MTV Classic will re-air MTV’s first-ever hour of programming. Watch a trailer for the channel below. Perhaps you’ll wash down all this nostalgia with a cool glass of Crystal Pepsi.
